We went here for breakfast and was excited to find this very cute cafe perfectly located by the river. The service and food was a huge disappointment. Drink and food orders were placed together, and our drinks did not arrive until 30 minutes after we finished our meals (5 coffees). Unusually, the drinks didn’t even come out together, our coffees came out individually every 5-10 minutes. Initially, two of us had ordered cold pressed juices which were $9 each, thinking that we had ordered fresh juices considering the price. The waitress returned with BOTTLED juices labeled cold press! We requested coffees and returned our unopened juice bottles - $9 for 250ml of bottled juice! Rip off.
Two of my friends ordered the muesli for $15. We saw the waitress take out two containers of muesli from the fridge at the front of the cafe which were packed for take away…I can only assume they scraped the muesli into a bowl and added fruit to it, hiking the price up an additional $3 or so from when the muesli was packaged in the take away container.
Payment was also a below average experience, with the waitress charging an incorrect amount for my ham, cheese tomato toastie ($15), stating that the $18 charge was due to my request to add cheese (the menu clearly stated ham, cheese and tomato toastie).
Overall, worst cafe experience I’ve had. Will not be coming back here, well below par for the great food and service Melbourne...
Read moreIt was a sunny day on 8th October when we visited Frankie Says, perfectly located near the Yarra River, we got:
☕️ Iced Coffee & Tropical Juice Delicious coffee & fresh blend of juice (thicc)
🥔 Hash Browns Served in 3, a nice side item / snack.
🍗 Special - Chicken on a Spit This was their Sunday special. The chicken was cooked & seasoned nicely! The meat was juicy, served with crispy chips, toasted bread, and the capsicum dip. However, a fresh salad as a side would make this perfect.
🍳 Chili Crab Benny This was tasty, the eggs were poached well, creamy hollandaise and coleslaw was fresh & nicely coated with the sauce. The texture contrast from the wonton crisps were nice too. However, the crab flavor was really lacking especially with all elements eaten together in one bite. If they could provide more ‘seafood’ taste, this would be a hit.
Overall, the location is incredible as we got to enjoy our brunch with a view (and some sun!). The staff was friendly, there are indoor/outdoor seating options but it could get quite hot outside when the sun’s on your head. The food was tasty, straight-forward but could do with some improvements. We’d recommend a visit on a...
Read moreStaffs are friendly sometimes even like a family member :) The coffee is always great with a good price. The meal is always great whether it is breaky or lunch and the special Friday BBQs oh my goooooodness give it a try whenever you can, trust me you will not regret it, it is the best night ever, the vibe the meal the beer and wine are great combination. The owner is very welcoming and friendly, after ordering coffee two times we are like mates now, and the staff are great welcoming always with a smile. “ Frankie Says ” is a dog friendly place so you can enjoy your coffee, breakfast, brunch, lunch with your fur friend and enjoy your meal with a great view and in a green environment. The food is served professionally with great designs and it is always yum no matter what you order. But stay away from the ” CORNED BEEF ” it is not worth the money I think they must remove it from the menu. The variety of the Beer is limited and sometimes what you see in the menu is not available which is a bummer. I recommend the “ Frankie Says “ to everyone who wants to have a great time...
