IKEA tea is an afterthought. The provided tea bags ( only one type, generic, possibly black tea ) are easily burst by the impossibly hot water, especially if you try to stir the tea to glean an extra burst of tea flavour before the coffee people, queueing for the same machine, start visibly getting impatient. Then the only milk available is the same hot frothy milk you can add to your cappuccino-esque brew. There is no extra container you can use to bring milk to your table, so your only option is to flood your already weak, burst-tea-bag tea and meekly wander off, hoping the tea leaves sink quickly enough like they used to in your grandmas home brewed tea! Come on IKEA give tea some love, we don't require barristas or fancy beans, just time to allow it to brew to our taste and perhaps some milk on the side that doesn't look like a foam bath!

came when they had the 50% off happy Fridays offer for main meals at IKEA in Richmond, about 10 mins from Melbourne CBD. Under $10 a main meal and a decent portion size. they serve Swedish style foods at this food court inside the IKEA shopping centre. It's nothing fancy here but a fun place to go after shopping in ikea. Some of the meals include baked salmon fillet, chicken parma, smoked pork ribs, lamb shoulder, plant based pie, Swedish meatballs, plant balls, veggie balls with cous cous and fish and chips. their desserts include daim cake, chocolate cake, cinnamon bun, chocolate mouse, apple cake, strawberry jelly, key lime pie, and carrot cake. the food court is large with lots of seats, but it does get busy on a Friday night and can fill up quickly. parking is inside the shopping centre. refillable soft drinks and coffee.

Honestly, I really can’t complain too much considering we went on half price Fridays. We got the baked salmon and meatballs for less than $15 total which is a steal! But, in an honest review of the food, I will say that the meatballs were kinda bland. The baked salmon was dry which was expected since it was just sitting in a warming dish until being served. The couscous salad it came with was good though, and it definitely helped cut the dryness of the salmon when you have them together. Considering the price point it is all acceptable. ALSO - love the $2.50 unlimited coffee refills 👌🏻

The food here is surprisingly decent and the customer service is not too bad either. It's set up like a canteen with plenty of self-service. The swedish meatballs are definitely worth trying (Although not a huge fan of the jam sauce that is served with it) and their cakes too! The pricing is mid-range, it isn't cheap but not expensive either. You're looking at about 20ish per person depending on what you choose. Also, if you're vegan, there are vegan options/plant based meats too.

Unfortunately there are some areas of improvement including that the soft drink fountain always seems to be undergoing maintenance or broken down. Sometimes when it gets really busy, it can also be hard to find a table to sit...
