I had a fantastic lunch at Sushi Jiro in Victoria Gardens — the sushi train setup made it super easy and convenient, especially for a solo lunch break. The variety was great, the service was quick, and the whole experience felt relaxed and seamless, even during a busy lunch hour. no wait time and you can people watch while eating in the middle of the sushi train.
One of the highlights was the soft shell crab temaki roll — absolutely delicious and made fresh by the chef right in front of me. It came out warm, crispy, and perfectly balanced with the rice and sauce. Highly recommend grabbing one of these if you visit!
The quality of the sushi overall was impressive for such a casual setup. Everything on the train looked fresh and was regularly restocked. I loved that I could just sit down, eat at my own pace, and be in and out quickly without feeling rushed.
The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure diners had everything they needed. The atmosphere is bright, clean, and welcoming — perfect for a quick recharge in the middle of a workday or a casual bite...
Read moreI have visited this sushi train a number of times and the quality of sushi and the service is generally ok, however, this week I had a very disgusting experience there when I saw a medium-sized cockroach crawling on the table (2 cm from my sushi plates as well as the conveyor belt) and on the iPad that I used to order from the kitchen. When I called for a staff member and drew their attention to the crawling cockroach very near my food and the conveyor belt, she did kill it with her hands and said "Sorry". I asked whether this is a common occurrence and she said that they usually check in the morning before opening! Given the location of the sushi train (at the centre of a food court) it is unlikely to be an isolated issue that affects Sushi Jiro alone - more likely to be a bigger problem at Vic Gardens! I did reach out to Sushi Jiro via their website and have heard nothing back. Nor did I think that the response of the staff on the day was adequate (Just casually saying "Sorry" did not seem like an adequate response given the seriousness of...
Read moreSo far i have been to 4 sushi jiro locations and always left unsatisfied, but victoria gardens one was the worst. Some of the sushi was visibly old and they didnt even bother trying to hide it by atleast torching the top like the other locations. Also the worst of all was alot of the plates were just the frozen packaged food which is available in most asian grocery stores. I mean if your gonna charge $5 for a plate atleast try to actually make it.
*Such as the koroke and okonomiyaki.. the same ones they sell at grocery store for...
