Decided to host a party of 18 pax at one of Crown Casino’s premium dining experiences “Ging Thai”. FYI for a party 12 must be booked via Crown’s Private Events team which is a nightmare to get throgh, 3 calls 40 minutes plus at a time, it was far from a premium service. I was promised a private dining experience at Ging Thai’s upstairs venue which to my suprise upon arriving due to staffing issues found it to not be opened, however, if I were willing to have a minimum spend of $3,000 they would have been able to re-open the section -.-.

At the commencement of my birthday evening, I was greeted by the resturant manager Ying, whom to my experience of any premium dining experience lacked any customer service experience, unapologetic, dismissive and hostile individual. I had 3 extra last minute guests which I had politely asked if the resturant was able to accomodate due to not being able to modify via the online link or contact the private events team, I was knocked back by Ying (resturant manager) telling me she could not accomodate any further guests, understanding this was my fault, Ying advised me she could accomodate my party again in the upstairs (which she told me was closed) had I been willing to have a minimum spend of $3,000, unfortuantely within a 5 minute span and due to unforseen circumstances some last minute cancellations within my party I wished to have kept my original booking, at this stage Ying had become argumentative and advised me she had to reallocate staff and relocate guests because of me, (She had made me feel as though I was an inconveniece), I had apologised for the confusion and requested my original booking. After further deliberations and being accepted for my original booking, I was advised I had a 2 hour seating and had to leave at a certain time, considering my guests had arrived I had no choice but to agree, My guests were greeted with hostility and told to wait outside “we’re not ready” and made to feel unwelcomed at a “premium resturant”.

During dinner service, we were able to try the “Feed Me” menu in which I highly reccomend, we were able to order further to the feed me menu fried snapper, and the sunday seafood tower, the food was absolutely phenomenal, all the food arrived promptly and the table service was absolutely attentive and quick, all requests and orders arrived promptly, and correct. I do note seafood was fresh and everyone at the party had nothing but compliments to the kitchen staff. One particular female waitress was very abrupt with snatching plates off my party and appeared to not be wanting to be at work. (I generally have no problems with people and the way they act, after all, I also work with people and see different personalities, however, If I am paying for a premium service, I also expect the service to reflect).

In conclusion, I am appauled by the Resturant manger’s attitude and persona, her dismissive demeanour and abruptness and rudeness had made my birthday dinner so dissapointing despite all the other good things about my night, she ruined what was meant to be such a memorable experience, as the first point of contact for customer at a premium dining experience, I expected for a more welcoming, accomodating and friendly approach rather than a hostile, dismissive and abrupt individual.

I do not reccomend this resturant for its service, depending on how forgiving of an individual you may be, perhaps the food is able to make up for your experience this could...

I recently visited Ging Thai with my family, and we ordered a variety of dishes to savor the flavors of Thai cuisine. Overall, our experience at Ging Thai was a mixed one, with some delightful highlights and a few areas for improvement.

Let's start with the positive aspects. The ambiance of the restaurant was pleasing, with its traditional Thai-inspired decor and a cozy atmosphere. It provided a comfortable setting for a family outing, allowing us to enjoy our meal without feeling rushed.

Now, on to the most important part - the food. We ordered the Fried Rice with Vegetables, Pad Thai with Tofu and Vegetables, and Roti Paratha. The food was undeniably delicious, showcasing authentic Thai flavors that pleased our taste buds. The Roti Paratha, in particular, stood out and became an instant favorite for all of us. Its crispy texture and mouthwatering taste left us craving for more.

However, one significant drawback we noticed was the portion sizes of the dishes. Considering the prices we paid, the quantity of food served was disappointingly small. It left us feeling slightly unsatisfied, as we had expected more generous portions to match the cost. While we appreciate quality over quantity, a more balanced serving size would have made the dining experience more gratifying.

Moving on to the service, it was average at best. The waitstaff seemed a bit disorganized, and there were moments when it took longer than expected for our orders to arrive. Although the staff was friendly, their attentiveness to our needs could have been better. Improving the efficiency and attentiveness of the service would undoubtedly enhance the overall dining experience at Ging Thai.

Ging Thai offers delightful Thai cuisine with a pleasant ambiance, making it a decent choice for those seeking an authentic Thai culinary experience. The Roti Paratha was undoubtedly the star of the show, leaving a lasting impression on us. However, it's worth mentioning that the portion sizes may not justify the prices, and the service could use some improvement. Despite the minor shortcomings, we enjoyed our meal and left Ging Thai with satisfied taste buds and a sense of...

We ate lunch here on the 30th of December and we loved the food here and the kind server that was serving us (asian and wearing an orange apron). However, there was another server (light hair, in double braids wearing a purple apron) who was so rude to us. My mother who was snacking on a cracker was told by this rude server "Hey you cannot eat that in here. You have to eat our food. No way. No way Jose." My mother put away the cracker, and I looked around for any signs saying that it is prohibited to bring any outside snacks but didnt find any. This rude server came back to our table again and repeated the same thing with an annoyed expression while saying the same thing, "no way, no way José," and I told her that we understand what she was saying and that she doesnt have to keep on repeating it.

While we understand that there are establishments who do not allow outside food, there is a more polite and respectful way to let your customers know. She did not have to approach us in that manner. And she could have said it in a more gentle way with a more neutral expression - if she was feeling annoyed with us. I dont know where she is from, but that is not how it is done in Australia. People here are laid back and respectful of others, no matter the ethnicity - and if she is a visitor from another country doing temporary work here in our country, then management should educate her on hospitality and respectfulness towards other people - not just customers.

Good thing that the other server who was mainly serving us was very kind and respectful and did not completely ruin the experience we had...

Visited here with some friends and the experience was very underwhelming. While Ging Thai is advertised as "great for groups" on the Crown website, it was far from so, as my group had to split up just because they force you to dine on a $76+ set menu for groups larger than 6. I understand why this policy exists during peak periods e.g. Friday evenings but at lunch time when the restaurant is not even half full, it just seems a tad unreasonable to impose such an expensive set menu on people. The food we ordered was alright, the options were somewhat pricey though the portion size was decent. I ordered the pad thai and while it was nice, I've definitely had much better from other restaurants for the same (or a lower) price. It's possible my group just got unlucky but unfortunately, a majority of the glasses on our table seemed dirty as if they had been poorly washed. A friend even asked for a replacement glass which happened to be just as dirty as the one she was replacing. Make sure you don't bring any external drinks in as even if they are unbranded and not sold at Ging Thai, they will still kick you off the premises, including the patio, until you finish them. I get why "no outside drinks" policies exist (and it was an accident on my friend's part) but the way the situation was handled by the staff made us feel quite unwelcome. Overall, the service was very mediocre and I would not go back here.
