We entered the restaurant in late Sunday lunch and it wasn't that busy, and was offered seat with a warm smile and menu was offeedo straight up alongwith jasmine/Chinese tea which is an excellent sight to have.
We ordered Roast duck and pork half n half platter and a Con gao (dumpling soup) and waited patiently for it to be served. After about 15 mins or so we enquired with our order taker and she admitted that she forgot to punch the order in computer and she quickly did that and apologized for it.
Understandably that can happen with anyone and we said it's okay to make an error of this sorts so after another almost 15 mins we got our food, piping hot and wonderful portion size. After tasting it, it was roasted to the core and the meat was juicy, served with a clear soup (which could have been seasoned more) but no worries. The dumplings soup was made really tasty and believe you me the flavours were bursting in mouth, so sinful. Not mention all this came in a bill of under $25.
After clearing my cheque, I had a word with head chef/one of owner who was relatively new and we exchanged good ideas and not many places in Melbourne whose chef would like to know about your experience, which here is so good.... Guys, I absolutely recommend this place which is so good on taste and so fairly price, try it once and you...
Read moreYesterday, we ate at Golden Chopstix, for dinner. Service was friendly, attentive, professional and collaborative. Atmosphere of the restaurant had a classic, but modern Cantonese/Vietnamese touch. There were plenty of people in the restaurant. As for the food, what these dishes, we ate, had in common, were that they all looked vibrant. I drank the Tea, first, which had an authentic taste of the tea brewing. It's not too sweet or overpowering. Then came the food. I ate the Salt and Pepper Squid with Rice. It had a nice light, crunchy batter. Golden brown on the outside, tender in the inside. Seasoning's on point. Rice was fluffy, white, soft, and cooked perfectly. The highlight was the Flounder. It also had a light, golden, crunchy batter, with soft tender flesh. Seasoning, as always, was on point. It's a big fish, but it had that nice sweetness of the flesh, next to bone. Most importantly, however, it wasn't smelly. I also tried the Stir-Fried Beef with Rice Noodles. The beef was tender. Noodles were al-dente, cooked to perfection. However, the sauce was the weakest element in this dish. It had this sort of bitter taste to it, which wasn't pleasant. But overall, this restaurant is still...
Read moreThe place was packed when we visited on a Saturday night. We ordered quite a few dishes. Soft crab was good, the inside was soft without being soggy and the outside was crunchy. Wonton noodle soup and broken rice were good too, not outstanding but enough to make us happy. Fried noodle with seafood were the best I had for quite some time, the seafood was cooked just right, retained the freshness. The highlight was the roasted duck and pork. The duck was soft. The were crispy with perfect bubbly cracking. The meat was lean. We had the 3 color drink for desert which was average. We were happy with service, staff was busy but very attentive. My only complaint is the seating, we were squeezed in a small corner with not much space to move, no major issue for us as we are all small people but I can see how my 6f+ mates would find it uncomfortable. Overall very good value for money. My new favorite in Springvale
Updated 2021: still my favorite chinese restaurant. They had a renovation changing the layout so the seating is much better now. Staff are amazing too....
