After a night visiting as many of the CBD’s rooftop bars as possible, Good Heavens was next on the list. The security told us that they’re closing in 45 minutes, which we were happy with, as our “rule” was 1 drink per venue, so 45 minutes was sufficient. We went upstairs and the bar staff were closing the tills and told us we can only have beer — no cocktails, or spirits. This was hugely disappointing considering there was a whole 45 minutes of service left. We ordered 3 x beers (I think it was Asahi), which came to $47.80 — no idea how… Twelve minutes after ordering the beer (I checked the timestamp on my phone), the security went around all tables to advise that the venue is closing in 10 minutes — not what we were told upon entry — we would’ve never bothered going in for 15 minutes and spending fifty bucks on beer (which we didn’t even finish since none of us is a big beer drinker). Overall, hugely disappointing. There was zero atmosphere there too. Would I give it another go? Maybe, on a Saturday afternoon — I suspect it would be nicer there during the day… But, for now, by far the worst place we’ve been to!

really nice spot and lovely atmosphere. Was having great time with my colleagues until it was my round to buy drinks. I wanted to order a schooner since we already had a couple but was offered pint at happy hour price. I told the bartender that I don’t want to drink too much but would be happy to pay the discounted pint price (10$) Charged 13$ for a schooner of pale ale since happy hour discount was not available to schooners. I thought this was wrong for so many reasons. Firstly, why put a financial incentive to encourage people drink more? Secondly, why train your staff to create better customer experiences by being flexible in order taking. From business perspective, I don’t understand the weighted balance of such decisions that result in bad taste at the conclusion of a nice after work drinks.

Good Heavens is a second story rooftop bar. We had the perfect weather for an afternoon of delicious cocktails. The ordering is via a QR code which is not my favourite but I could see the value of it when things picked up in the last afternoon. There was a lengthy list of drinks available and we all thoroughly enjoyed the various cocktails we ordered. The vibe throughout the day was great and this is clearly a popular after work space. The energy built over the afternoon and when we left at 5:30 it was growing even more. This is a fun spot in the middle of the city that I highly recommend on a sunny day.

The two stars is to recognise how lovely the front of house and staff were last night, however the short bouncer with the buzzcut who violently shoved my partner down the stairs, despite trying to explain to him he cannot walk down stairs quickly due to a badly torn hamstring ruined the experience. We were asked to leave by the bouncers in which we were compliant, after a glass was knocked over by a member of our group. Fair enough, we understood, no argument or pushback from us. However, to be screaming and swearing at my partner and lay hands on him, who was far from drunk, not causing any disturbance or instigating an argument is extremely inappropriate. This man's reasoning for being aggressive to my partner is solely rooted in his frustrations that my partner was limping down stairs. Not to mention, this caused an aggravation of his injury and foreshadowed our overall experience. It was evident to us, given the bouncer in question dashed back upstairs to hide, and the rest were calm, understanding and easy to chat with, that the way this individual handled the situation caused an embarrassment on the behalf of the venue. I am writing this review out of hopes that this bouncer is held accountable for his actions, and this behaviour is prevented in future because frankly, we had a great night up until this...
