I recently returned to HH for a hens party lunch and was seriously impressed with the amount of food that came our way. I was particularly fond of the delicious beef and black bean dish and the Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce and ginger which was extremely flavoursome. The coconut beef rendang also impressed. They stuffed up one of the dietaries and were supposed to correct it by bringing out another dish but the menu was so extensive that it didn’t matter that it never arrived. Dessert was also yummy with some lovely chai ice cream accompanying the fried apple pie and some delectable almost mousse like in texture milo ice cream in the milo and coconut ice cream sundae. After today’s experience I wouldn’t hesitate to have a large group here Original review What a time to be alive! Had a failed attempt visiting here when it first opened you know just the usual phrase you can expect to hear when attempting to enter a restaurant for dinner in Melbourne 'it's a two hour wait' but when I came back I was prepared arriving at precisely 6pm and Lo and behold there was space for the three of us immediately (like you would bloody hope so the place is huge). Not so lucky for those who arrived two hours later as I was working my way though a jug of moscato sangria. I laughed from my table (suckers) but we've all been there. Honestly Melbourne had been waiting for this place for so long. There are saaa many options on the menu and it's one of those spots I literally went to order everything. We started with prawn and ginger dumplings (DELICIOUS black vinegar caramel), roti canai (obligatory) and satay chicken skewers. We moved on to baked salmon curry and stir fried BBQ chicken but there are also feed me and banquet options available if you can't quite decide. Most dishes are cheap but if you are ordering right your bill won't be. Interior wise there are brightly coloured neon signs to create that hawker style atmosphere (ironic given there has clearly been no expense spared on the fitout). The Lucas Group has outdone themselves

4.5. Twosheds has been anticipating a visit to Hawker Hall, as it came highly recommended by close friends. Expectations were high as we had dined at sister restaurant, Chin Chin, on a number of previous occasions. The high expectations were warranted. The vibe here is fantastic. Seriously expensive industrial chic fitout and great low key, old school house and pop music pumps out to a 25-32 something crowd. Make no mistake, this placed is packed every night for dinner (if you want no queue, come for lunch). The food arrives quickly. And service is fast, attentive, friendly and efficient. We dined on dumplings to start, which are fusion Asian, as is the case across menu. All the Malaysian, Chinese and pan Asian classics are brought to the fore here. The pork and chive wonton with chilli and black bean were a serious highlight, with the astringent black bean setting off the delicate fat in the pork meat. Spring rolls are delicately filled and fried with the best ingredients. The throughput of the kitchen, and quality emanating from it, is astounding given the size of the place. Small details are apparent though such as green chilli in the lovely soy. The char Kway Teow is faithful to its Malaysian roots, but has a special freshness through use of more sprouts which was quite enticing. As the food arrived, the music from the DJ spinning discs got better and better (more 80s). Next to arrive were the Malaysian-style chicken skewers. The peanut sauce is more peanut than sauce here: super stuff. I’ll refrain from later dishes but suffice to say, they were as good as the earlier ones. The Twosheds gang ordered from the “wine off the tap” menu here for drinks, which is great value. We drank a Riesling/Grigio blend and a Pinot, which arrived in carafes. The wines on the drinks list proper are a bit pricey. You must give this place a try. 4.5

I had a good experience at this restaurant! First of all, the service was incredible! The staff were super friendly and we had a small convo too. Very satisfied with the service! The vibes in the restaurant were nice as well. I really like it! My partner and I ordered the chicken popcorn, pork bun, chicken satay, CKT, and beef black bean noodle. The chicken popcorn was okay, it's just like normal deep-fried chicken with dipping sauce. Pork bun was okay too, I just hope the pork filling could be more juicy but it still tasted good though. The chicken satay was good; the peanut sauce was a bit spicy and I loved it! The chicken was thick too and they gave us achar/pickled veggie on the side and it was good as well so I could say the portion for the satay was generous and tasted good overall. Nice appetisers! The CKT was not bad. It was a bit bland but if they put a bit of salt, soy sauce or even sweet soy sauce, that'd be much better! In terms of portion, the CKT was a loot for me. I'd recommend to share the dish with other food as well rather than having it by yourself. My partner got the black bean and beef rolled rice noodle. It tasted okay but the noodles were kinda unique (in a good way) so it's good to try food like that. The portion is generous as well! Overall, it was great having dinner at this restaurant! Wouldn't mind to come back here again next time!

From the owners of Chin Chin, this place offers inspiration for the tastebuds. We arrived just after 6:30 to avoid queuing as it gets busy here. Choosing seats by the bar, the menu had so many appealing dishes, but we soon made our choices and gave our orders to one of the bar attendants. The BBQ pork ribs arrived impressively fast. Soon we were tucking into well marinated sweet ribs with a spicy punch, paired with a bean shoots, mint and Lychee salad and rice. The flavour explosion continued with the Peking Duck. The mouth-watering, succulent pieces came with thin crepes, cucumbers, spring onions, hoisin sauce and green chilli. Generous portion sizes of both dishes meant there was no room left for dessert. The coconut sorbet shake with Milo and cinnamon was like drinking liquid Bounty, almost a meal in itself. Pumping beats from the DJ filled the cavernous space with energetic vibes matched by the kitchen. Aromatic scents wafted through the air constantly to whet our appetite. Ample seating capacity and highly efficient staff completed the experience. When the bar attendant realised the BBQ ribs came with rice, he volunteered to cancel our order of extra rice. Everything was on point, making this a fantastic experience in every sense.

Hawker hall is funky Asian fusion restaurant, inspired by the street food stalls of Singapore and Malaysia. Located in bustling Chaple Street, on the site of an old horse stable, contains a very modern looking restaurant, with an open kitchen & kitschy neon hawker signs. We started off with some fruity watermelon & coconut crushes. Perfect summer pick-me-up. These were followed by the softest prawn & ginger dumplings. The pork dumplings were a highlight, the juicy pork complemented with aromatic bits of fried garlic. On the side, a chargrilled corn with wood ear mushrooms was a table favourite, so many different textures made this dish a must-order. A premium special fried rice with prawns came after. A generous amount of spring onions on the top, with the fresh prawns perfectly stir-fried. The Char Kway Teow was a bit pedestrian, too much soy sauce made the dish overwhelming. The Peking style roast duck was fantastic, with a rich plum sauce, soft pancakes and gamey slices of duck. A great dish to share with friends. I dined with Janeca, and friends visiting from Canberra, who were already fan’s of this place. With a good service, great food and even better drinks, Hawker Hall is another great Melbourne restaurant scene.

I dined at Hawker Hall for the first time for a business lunch meeting. I have to say we enjoyed it thoroughly. The venue is trendy, and I felt like I was transported to a little lane way in the CBD. The staff were fantastic, helpful, and attentive. We opted for the 'Feed The People'. The menus draws it inspiration from the vibrant hawker centres of Singapore and Malaysia. First on the menu was salt and pepper squid with chilli (the staff asked how much spice we wanted). Delicious. Second - pork buns, usually not a favourite or go to, but these were great! Third - Satay skewers, very nice and beautifully presented. Fourth - Prawn and beef stir-fry. I don't eat prawns, so I picked them out. The dish overall was very nice. I prefer the thicker noodles. Fifth - Shredded hoisin duck salad with crispy wontons. Sixth - I don't recall exactly which curry was served, but it was very good. It was accompanied by jasmine rice and chared broccollini. We had chocolate brownie for dessert, which we shared as we were so full. Final thoughts- The selection was flavourful, complex, aromatic, and filling. I look forward to eating here again. It has a great atmosphere. Parking can be tricky. There is a car park on the street behind the venue.
