A friend called this place heaven and suggested it may well be where he first came upon the face of God. I knew he had experienced things. I also knew that neither my face nor my countenance had engaged the idea of God for him. I knew that before he finished with his greeting.
So he goes and he sits. And if I remove the idea of God (he of the father and son, they of the trinity) a crowing deceit of an apparently blameless, all knowing being, with limitless powers. (creator of everything, except transparency and accountability) then I can see where he is coming from. It is what it is for him.
Heaven does not require the creator to be in residence. For my friend it is a quiet place without people where he can experience respite from ignorance and lies, with nature in relative abundance providing shade and privacy. It is a space where quiet reflection is possible.
Forgive my wandering path: Prahran square.... really is quite pleasant.
Heaven is an idea, that we all seek in different ways. That it has an incarnation in Prahran, is surprising, but I don't think there is much that is beyond the realm of probability (or probability's rim, as my friend called it. Who crafts probability's rim I asked? A question for...
Read moreCato Square is a functional and aesthetically pleasing public square that is great for the cooler months but needs some more shelter over the ramped and terraced areas for the hotter months. It has enough green spaces, adventure and play areas for kids and breakout areas with tables, chairs and shade near a nice water feature. Plenty of seating in and around the square. AV and sound installations for background noise create a nice ambiance and the square is well lit at night for security and it looks like the area is also under CCTV surveillance. A great edition to Prahran that turned an ugly former ground level carpark site into the square. There have been complaints that there isn't enough green space included in Cato Square but there are enough parks close by to use, Grattan Gardens is a 1 min walk to the West and Princess Gardens is a 6 min walk to the East. Cato Square is part of a precinct of public spaces and it is the multi use area designed to accommodate public performances. It is cleverly designed to pack a lot in to a small space and discretely hides a multi level basement carpark that is much needed to service the shops in and around Cato Square, Prahran Market and...
Read moreIncredible. All that money and no money left for signs to the toilets if you come from outside the square. A tiny sign on the wall only alerts you to it and only then if you’re almost outside the ramp . Obviously council employees too busy Tiktoking and virtual signalling every 5 minutes to every group they can think off to attend to the actual basics of all human needs. PS it takes a real brain to plant gum trees aka widow makers in a inner suburban park. Not only do these trees become incredibly massive in a very short time; they are incredible dangerous in high use areas in summer or high winds or rain as they drop branches and fall. Kudos - hope your liability insurance is paid up. And they are hopeless as shade trees. That’s what you get again when people use virtual signalling and misguided ‘oh it’s native’ without actually understanding what your doing as their guide when...
