SO GOOD 5/5 well deserved - absolute highlight of my melbs trip.

The no brainer: Beef and pickles, add hectic sauce and cheese. The good stuff. This was just so indescribably good I can’t even deal- first of all let’s talk about the bread. Idk if it’s sourdough or rye or whatever but it was PERFECT. Gone are the days where I can chew onto a brick of bread in a morning sammich and consider it acceptable- everything will forever be compared to this amazing sandwich. The bread was light and soft, but crispy where toasted with butter. With each bite of the sandwich it appropriately ripped away (no tugs of war w ur bread).

The second best: Chicken sandwich!! The chicken schnitzel is phenomenal, cooked “just right”. I’m amazed w how much precision the team here cooks w, despite how absolutely hectic things are. This chicken sandwich is a true testament to it. I also loved the bun it came in- so soft and the texture perfectly complimented the tender chicken schnitzel. Just perfect. Tastes like a perfected KFC chicken burger.

Third best that we tried: Tuna melt- if you loveee tuna melts you have to order this. It’s a really good tuna melt- same amazing bread experience as the beef and pickles.

Last but not least, the coffee which is a light roast was creamy and soo good. They know how to make a mean coffee- it was the most decent coffee we had in melbs this entire trip I wanted to get one to go on the way out but the line deterred me lolol. Also props to the barista and the guy at the front- I watched the two work like absolute wizards. The barista was doing 20 jobs at once but w AMAZING efficiency and all whilst maintaining awesome customer service, delivering each coffee to every patron w a smile- what an absolute legend. It was really entertaining to watch but I was actually really amazed cuz lunch service seems stressful af (and this is coming from someone who has done hospitality while constantly understaffed before). Also, the guy taking orders at the front was totes doing cardio the whole time running up and down the restaurant to deliver each order, what a legend. He didn’t even forget to come back and deliver us more serviettes between delivery other people their sandwiches.

We sat in front of the kitchen and watched this amazing team work so can safely say that the team here truely cares about delivering a great experience to every customer. They may be busy as F and the lines long, but you can guarantee that your sandwich is cooked with precision and care in the kitchen, you’ll get great customer service and that they’re working as quick as humanely possible (legit tho) to get you your...

I went to Hectors about 2 Fridays ago for a catch-up breakfast/lunch with friends. I was traveling from Sydney, and I won't lie, this sandwich was the 2nd reason why I was in Melbourne- the First being the Porter Robinson Concert the night before.

All I can say is if you haven't been to Hectors, you simply do not like yourself. The Beef and Pickles Sandwich is the best Sandwich overall in Australia; I mean this wholeheartedly.

And the Coffee is to die for. I cannot express how good it is for a coffee, especially in Melbourne.

Now you think that would be it, right? but all I can add to this is that the staffing is incredible. The gentleman that served me would put up with my shenanigans and slow decision-making, but also supported me taking my time despite the queue. I sadly didn't remember his name.

But the waitress that brought out our sandwiches, coffees and donuts was the BEST server I have ever experienced. Not only matching our vibe and humour was prompt and almost like a 5th person at our table. I have never been served with such enthusiasm to have a good time in nearly any other place, or at least in recent history.

I had hectors last February as a recommendation from a professional Food Photographer, only described as a religious experience. And I cannot express how accurate that is. I made this review on my second account because I left a review last year, and I am on the 6th paragraph. Do the math!

I will be back in Melbourne, hopefully not for another year, but this will be my first and last stop of the trip!

I already miss...

I recently visited this sandwich shop, and I must say it was a delightful experience. The moment I walked in, I was greeted with the inviting ambience of the store. The menu is simple and easy to navigate, from classic to creative options, catering to all tastes.

I opted for their "Beef & Pickles" toasted sandwich, and it was a true masterpiece. The bread were crisp and incredibly light, and the combination of ingredients added a burst of flavor. Did I mention... The bread was perfectly toasted, giving the sandwich a satisfying crunch with every bite. Other items ordered were the "Chicken Salad" & "Egg & Cheese", everything was perfection, seems like you can't go wrong.

The service was friendly and efficient, making the experience even more enjoyable. The portion size was generous, ensuring I left feeling completely satisfied. They also offered a selection of sides, Desserts and beverages to complement the sandwiches.

Overall, Hector's Deli is a MUST do gem. Whether you're a meat lover or a vegetarian, there's something on the menu to satisfy your cravings. The quality, flavor, and service make it a must-visit spot for anyone looking for a delicious and satisfying hit. I can't wait to return and try more of their...

I tried this place for first time and I asked for a chicken sandwich (17$) and orange juice (5$) and got charged 23$ (I didn’t really pay attention till I realised that the guy brought out a bowl of chicken salad (which is $18). I corrected the guy that I wanted a chicken sandwich. I didn’t want to bother the guy for $1 so I finished the meal It couldve been my mistake for not specifying either FRIED chicken or chicken salad but I was expecting the fried chicken sandwich not the salad one, as it just says chicken on the wall menu. I wish the guy asked me which one when I asked for just a chicken sandwich. The chicken salad sandwich itself had hardly any chicken, mostly sauce and some greens. Bit disappointed. Bread was good though. I don’t recommend chicken salad one ADDIT i went back for the second time and got a beef pickle one and the guy asked if I wanted to add cheese and sauce and okay. It turns out thin slice of cheddar cheese and some sauce costs extra 4$ so one toasties ended up 23$ inc card surcharge. Just like the chicken salad one, it was mostly sauce and bread, not much meat. Quite disappointing
