Read moreAbsolutely one of the most delightful croissants I've ever tasted! The wait in line was totally worth it. I had the pleasure of trying their plain, Raspberry, and Pandan croissant.
During my first attempt, I unfortunately missed out on their highly popular Pandan croissant, which was the one I was most eager to try. Instead, I decided to go for the Raspberry crossiant, and I'm so glad I did! It had just come out of the oven so it was stillwarm and flaky, with just the right amount of jam. Surprisingly, the jam didn't overpower the croissant, which made the experience even better.
As I was finalizing my order, I noticed the staff preparing a fresh batch of Pandan Croissants to be baked. I inquired if it was possible to prepay for one and collect it later, but they politely declined (which I completely understood). However, I did manage to ask how long until the next batch would be ready, and they informed me it would take approximately an hour. So, I left the shop, but curiosity got the best of me, and just 20 minutes later, I happened to pass by and witnessed them serving the Pandan croissants!
Without hesitation, I joined the line once again, feeling lucky that I managed to snag the last Pandan croissant of that batch.
The moral of this delightful adventure is that timing is key when it comes to getting your hands on the sought...
Read moreAgathe might lack the hype that is often associated with another famous bakery but it does not in any way signifies that Agathe is in any way lesser than said famous bakery. In fact, the croissants at Agathe is quite the masterpiece. Layers upon layers of flaky and buttery pastry, and so incredibly light that one croissant is never enough. If you are after something other than plain croissant, the Pandan croissant is an absolute delight. The subtle pandan flavour shines through, adding a balanced sweetness to the savoury undertones of the butter.
The Kouign-amann is another example of buttery perfection. Quite the paradox in itself, delicate yet rich, crisped yet soft, and light yet one of the unhealthiest pastry ever. The crisped flaky layers give away to a soft and buttery inside, and trust me, it is a dream to eat. The same can be said for the Pandan Flan. The smooth and creamy pandan custard is not overly sweet, and it comes as no surprise that the pastry is outstanding as well.
Definitely on the best bakery you can find in Melbourne, and one that will keep you coming back for more...
