WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! This is my second visit to this restaurant. My first experience was ok - overpriced but food was adequate, we were in the area and thought we’d give it a second try to see if we’d just caught them on an off night last time. Whilst this restaurant has a quirky ambiance and they had live music that was good - not too loud for the small space, the food is well below standard. The entrees are reasonable for the cost - we shared; saganaki, white anchovies, meatballs, and prawn skewers between 4. However the main meals are appalling!!! We shared lamb skewers and chicken gyros plate - the lamb had 8 small cubes of meat, lettuce and microwave reheated potatoes and pita bread with at best a tablespoon of tzatziki. The chicken was even worse - less than a 1/2 a cup of the most dried out tiny SCRAPS of chicken on a plate with chips, lettuce and more soggy pita and again a rationed tablespoon size serve of tzatziki. I cannot adequately describe how small a serve and how dried out the chicken was - it was outrageous that they thought that it was ok to serve it! 2 of our party shared a desert of donuts with honey and chopped walnuts and said that they were good. I am very happy to pay for good quality food and understand that running a restaurant with all the various costs is challenging but this restaurant is absolutely ripping customers off. I will not be returning and wouldn’t recommend. Head...
Read moreHouse of pan is an amazing place to spend your Thursday/Friday/Saturday evening. Marie the owner is always there checking in on customers making friends and ensuring everyone is having a great time. Staff are helpful and kind. The atmosphere is amazing, live music every Friday and Saturday. The food is great, I would 100% recommend the banquet which is $68 per person. So much food always have plenty left over to take home for the next day. The music is incredible and gives the restaurant an amazing atmosphere. It’s also great to go even just for some drinks. House of pan stays open until around 1am (later or earlier depending on how busy it is). Drinks reasonable priced with...
Read moreHad the worst Greek dinner ever! Whilst the place was fabulous and promised so much, the food was terrible! We ordered the banquet which was far from what was expected. The ammonia smell that came from the kitchen and filled the restaurant during the cook was overpowering. The skewers of meat were not tasty and the meagre salad was equally disappointing. The loukemades were dry and tasteless. We should’ve realised that there was something not quite right when we were the only table booked on a Saturday night! Whilst the service was good, the food substandard. I can’t understand how a Greek restaurant could get the food so wrong. Head to Malvern East or Oakleigh for...
