Iron River Bar & Grill - Frankston — Restaurant in Melbourne

I’ve always enjoyed Iron River, but our recent visit was extremely disappointing. The food & coffee were still great, one young male staff member who greeted & seated us seemed nice & helpful at the beginning. We were initially placed at a table right by the door (despite requesting otherwise), but thankfully he moved us to a warmer spot without fuss. Our orders were taken within 10 mins & any modifications to meals were dealt with quickly & easily. Unfortunately, the rest of the service let the night down. A staff member at the bar was unnecessarily rude when I tried to order a glass of coke - she was full of attitude , blunt, unhelpful & dismissive, I was told to return to my table & wait to be served , after advising her that our order had already been taken, drinks received & I had finished my coffee I was just after a glass of coke to be brought out before mains arrived .. I was rudely told for the 2nd time to return to my table she couldn’t help me ….after feeling extremely embarrassed & completely shut down I returned to my table & waited for staff to walk by , the gentleman that originally sat us I called over , told him what just happened & his response was “ yeah what do you want ?” No I’m so sorry about that or even a slight explanation as to why .. just “what do you want” …I politely asked just a glass of coke .. he took off so fast that he didn’t hear my partner ask for another glass to .. a whole of 3 seconds from the time I asked & he left .. waited 10 mins for the 1 glass of coke before having to ask for another & wait another 10 mins .. ( Never had this issue in the past , we have always approached the bar for another drink to be brought out if staff were busy or simply not in view ) ( personally shocked you couldn’t walk up to bar & order a drink like previous visits ) to wait for something as simple as a coke ? Really ? Later, the same rude bar staff girl interrupted our meal abruptly to clear plates, without a word of courtesy , no excuse me or sorry to interrupt just “ what plates are you done with !?” We were shocked at the lack of customer service , the overwhelming amount of attitude & not a smile in sight .. feeling let down , disappointed & completely disrespected at that point we ate our meals so fast and left. We spent just under $200 & left disappointed & simply embarrassed. Coffee & drinks are great..when not waiting. Entrees are a great size & yummy . Main meals used to be much better quality but can’t complain with value of money & pure size of meals.

3 stars for the food , coffee & drinks but overall, the service / staff needs serious improvement, staff in particular that young (girl) bar staff need more training at the very least .. I am still shocked at how she handled the situation.. 1 staff member who brought us our drinks was fantastic & I was disappointed we didn’t get to see more of her... Id just like to mention as people ourselves who work in hospitality we work in venues , bars & restaurants , we cater to hundreds dining for dinner & lunch on the daily we understand how stressful it can be , we understand hospitality deals with all sorts of personality’s & people… however no matter how busy we are no matter how crap our day could have been we would never treat people the way we were treated tonight! I can’t express enough how upset we are. Extremely disappointed & very glad not to...

I won't waste my time and energy visiting this restaurant again. As soon as we entered this place, the server was rude because we were late by 5 minutes (I checked my watch) and said he needs the table back in 55 minutes. He said they were hoping we would be there on time so they can get the table back in an hour. We have never experienced a 1 hour time limit before and their website also says all booking sessions run for 1.5 hours. Taken aback by this behaviour, we were about to leave when another gentleman came up to us and offered a different table. In hindsight, we should have just left. The same server kicked our 1 year old's high chair while serving the table next to us and offered no apology. I understand it can be challenging to navigate tight spaces and accidents do happen but the lack of courtesy and attitude is unacceptable. The entrees were bad. The chicken skewers were dry with no real flavour and the sweet chilli cheesy garlic bread was just sweet. When we requested plates to share the entrees, we were handed visibly dirty plates. Given the experience so far, we didn't bother asking for a different set of plates and just ate off of the serving plates. The pork ribs were alright and my husband's parma was good. Overall extremely bad customer service and food is a hit and miss (mostly misses) At the end we left the place 10 minutes before the arbitrarily allotted 1 hour time limit. We couldn't wait to get out...

I attended this place for the Superbowl. My first visit here ever. Watching the game was easy, which was great... It's really comfortable spot. Staff were gentle...not too pushy on asking for more orders...that's good and bad when u starving. This place has two TVs.. I wish they were bigger and maybe a bit more volume.

Food I had was really surprising.

Onion rings for entree with a sauce. Seriously Great taste, great serving size..and great menu price... Actually prob best O rings I've had in greater Melbourne.

Had the chief burger for main. Great taste, nice combo of beef n chicken. Bit more chips be nice. Price is on point....I'd pay that amount anywhere in greater Melbourne for the that burger. I feel that in Frankston though the local public may find it a few bucks expensive.

Had a good alcohol menu. I stuck to blue moon stubbie beers. Very nice, and good to see this beer served in a more normal eatery... Big tick. If they had Pabst Blue Ribbon It would've been perfect. I look forward to trying the other alcohol items in the future. I also saw they had alcohol mixers in jug options.

So 1 entree, 1 main, 4/5 beers was told $70 However I only paid 50$.... I don't know why.... I might've caught the lunch special who's is a $10 meal.

Really hope this place sticks around. Ultimately I guess you could call similar to a TGIF venue .. except the food quality and taste is so so much better. And the menu has more...
