Haven’t been here for a few months but came for dinner last night. Same dingy lighting, same lack of air conditioning, same walls posted full of specials and banquet menu options... but not the same value for money. With the new prices, I would rather opt for Chinese food in Glen Waverley and Springvale.
Ordered a banquet for 5-6 with an additional dish (eggplant with mince claypot). Dishes were average or worse. ie BBQ pork was both dry and fatty at the same time (how?); Diced beef with vegetables... they managed to condense all of the sinew in a whole animal into 7 cubes of beef to serve alongside 4 pieces of almost raw broccoli; XO sauce seafood fried rice was actually chilli oil fried rice with one shrimp and a couple of pieces of diced calamari; Eggplant with mince claypot only had eggplant... no mince. Fresh Cantonese roast meat on top of flavoured rice with some greenery and sauce next to it, very well priced with this quantity at just 20$??? Where else could you get this? The Fujian Fried Rice was fantastic. The pinnacle of Chinese comfort food, absolutely recommend this. We also ordered an Egg-Beef Vermicelli (can’t remember the exact name) but this was absolutely insane too. Don’t get turned off by the exterior, it’s just a classic Cantonese style design. Food matters...
