I recently had the pleasure of dining at Juicy Bao, and I absolutely loved the experience. From the moment I walked in, I could tell that this place was unique. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, making me feel right at home.

When it comes to food, Juicy Bao truly exceeds expectations. The standout feature of this establishment is undoubtedly their large dumplings. These dumplings were unlike anything I had ever seen before. Each one was generously stuffed with a delectable filling, and the size alone made it a satisfying and filling meal in itself. I appreciated the fact that I didn't have to order several dumplings to feel satisfied.

What sets Juicy Bao apart from other dumpling places is their commitment to handmade craftsmanship. The dumplings are individually handmade, ensuring precision and care in every bite. You can see and taste the dedication that goes into each piece. It's evident that they value quality and authenticity above all else.

One of the things that impressed me the most was the fact that the dumplings were cooked fresh. There's something truly special about biting into a dumpling that's still steaming hot from the kitchen. The flavors were vibrant and the texture was perfectly balanced. It's clear that they take pride in serving only the freshest and most flavorful dumplings to their customers.

Beyond the incredible dumplings, the overall dining experience at Juicy Bao was fantastic. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, making me feel like a valued guest. The atmosphere was filled with a sense of warmth and happiness, creating a delightful environment to enjoy a meal with friends or family.

If you're a fan of dumplings or simply looking to try something new, I highly recommend Juicy Bao. Their large dumplings, individually handmade and cooked fresh, make for an unforgettable dining experience. This place truly embraces the art of dumpling making, and it's evident in every aspect of their food. I can't wait to go back and indulge in their mouthwatering...

🥟 Juicy Bao – Melbourne’s Dumpling Heaven 🥢✨

If you’re craving authentic Chinese flavors in the heart of Melbourne, Juicy Bao is a must-visit spot for dumpling lovers and foodies alike. Famous for its handmade xiao long bao (soup dumplings), this bustling restaurant delivers a truly flavor-packed dining experience.

⸻

🥟 The Star of the Show – Xiao Long Bao

The xiao long bao here lives up to the name “Juicy Bao” — delicate, thin-skinned dumplings filled with rich, flavorful broth and perfectly seasoned pork. Each bite bursts with savory goodness, making it one of the best spots in Melbourne to enjoy this Shanghainese specialty.

⸻

🥩 Stir-Fried Beef with Gai Lan

Another highlight is the stir-fried beef with Chinese broccoli (gai lan). The beef is tender and juicy, stir-fried to perfection in a savory sauce, and paired beautifully with the crisp, fresh gai lan. It’s a dish that balances flavor and texture — simple yet absolutely satisfying.

⸻

🌶️ Spicy Chicken – Kou Shui Ji (口水鸡)

For those who love bold flavors, the spicy chicken “kou shui ji” (hou shui gai) is a must-try! Tender poached chicken is drenched in a fragrant, spicy, and slightly numbing Sichuan-style chili sauce — an explosion of heat, aroma, and umami that keeps you coming back for more.

⸻

🍜 Why You’ll Love Juicy Bao • ✅ Super tasty xiao long bao — juicy, delicate, and bursting with flavor • ✅ Authentic Chinese dishes like stir-fried beef with gai lan and spicy chicken • ✅ Cozy, bustling atmosphere with quick service • ✅ Perfect for dumpling lovers and anyone craving rich, comforting flavors

⸻

📝 Final Thoughts

Juicy Bao is a dumpling paradise and one of Melbourne’s top spots for authentic Shanghainese and Sichuan dishes. From their famous soup dumplings to flavorful stir-fries and spicy delights, it’s the perfect place for anyone who loves bold, satisfying, and comforting Chinese food.

Be prepared — it can get busy during peak hours, but the flavors are well worth...

Zero star for unprofessional, rude service and troublesome ordering app.

Walked in for lunch for the first time here and ordered through the QR scanner, after sitting for a while with no food, i asked one of the waiter and was told that they did not receive my order although i had already paid and had a receipt via email.

The staff has made another order and food came out quickly. However I saw a "not paid" note on my ticket and asked the staff again, he said they did not receive my payment, i then showed the boy the transaction on my bank account together with the invoice in my mail and the boy took a photo and walked back in to check.

A middle aged man came out (i assume the owner or manager) and straight away spoke in chinese to me ( I am Asian), i then informed him that i cannot speak chinese and told him the situation, he said the transaction is "pending" that means they have not received the payment with an angry tone and bad manner. When i asked him what happens now, he said, and i quote "I don't know". He then told me to pay again if the "pending" has not approved by the time i go, so i asked him what if i pay the second time and the pending is approved when i got home. He did not let me finish my sentence and already jumped in my mouth and say it will not approve if it is pending and that it is my bank's fault. I have never seen a pending transaction that does not get approved, however i am okay to pay and get a refund later, i just want to know for sure how i get my refund if i get charged twice. The man was rude, angry and hostile toward me.

The order on the app somehow get transfered to their kitchen and food came out twice despite the "pending" on my bank account. I have not received a single sorry or apology for the whole troublesome event.

In overall, unprofessional service and horrible problem solving, i am sure that me and my friends won't spend...

So like genuinely as an Asian I highly do not recommend this especially for people who are not familiar with Asian food, they just gaslight you. Personally I have eaten dinsum many times and I ordered three of their dumplings, while the 小笼包Xiao Long Bao was okay, the two others are just diabolical. The prawn dumplings' fillings are less than my sanity and the taro filling in another dish is literally cold. COLD. I told them kindly, instead of admitting the problem or giving any sorts of compensation, they told me "it's meant to be cold". I tell you it's not. They just use frozen dish and can't even be bothered to microwave it properly. I am disappointed and I will never ever come again and I feel really bad for whoever will other those two dishes in the future. I didn't even bother taking too many pictures because I just wanted out ASAP. Also have I mentioned they don't serve ginger along their Xiao Long Bao? That's how you know it's not an authentic restaurant that sells Xiao Long Bao.
