Read moreI recently visited Keki Milk Bar, a charming Japanese pancake cafe known for its cosy ambience and attentive service. While my overall experience was pleasant, I couldn't help but feel a bit underwhelmed by certain aspects of the meal.
Let's start with the positives. The cafe's atmosphere is undeniably inviting. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a warm and aesthetically pleasing interior. The staff were courteous and attentive throughout my visit, ensuring that I felt well taken care of.
However, the highlight of any cafe should undoubtedly be the pancakes themselves, and this is where Keki Milk Bar left me with mixed feelings. I ordered their caramel souffle pancakes with great anticipation, only to find them overly eggy. The texture was indeed super fluffy, but the taste was dominated by the egg, which detracted from the overall enjoyment, however did look amazing.
To complement my pancakes, I opted for one of their milk-based matcha drink. Unfortunately, I found the milk drink to be quite bland. It lacked the richness and depth of flavour that one might expect, leaving me wishing for something more flavourful to pair with the pancakes.
In conclusion, Keki Milk Bar offers a delightful atmosphere and excellent service, making it a cosy spot to spend time. However, the taste of the pancakes and the blandness of the milk-based drink were a bit disappointing. Despite my mixed feelings, I appreciate the effort put into creating a welcoming environment, and I hope that the culinary aspects can match up to the ambience...

REVIEW: 🦥 A slow kind of Tuesday night, the two workers were trying their best to get the orders out. Unfortunately, the number of people in their dessert bar seemed to overwhelm the workers. There was a noticeable delay in getting the souffles, but when we did it was made to perfection! 😀
🕺 The souffle had a nice little jiggle jiggle, with a softness that melted in your mouth. The sauce is dolloped on the top, which means if you don't get a good ratio between the top and bottom pancakes that are stacked then you might be depriving yourself/ someone else of flavour! The matcha was my favourite, with a noticeable strong earthy flavour. 🍵 The pecan was my favourite. I found that there was no discernible taste when I had a bite.
Service is self serve where you can grab spoons, tissues and water from the self serving station near the kitchen. There doesn't seem to be good air conditioning in the cafe, so there's a pedestal fan to circulate the air around. 🌫🌪 Would suggest going to Keki when it's...
