This place truly deserves its spot as one of my top 3 Thai restaurants in the city. Every dish on the menu is consistently good, and the ambiance is super chill. In the evenings, they even have live Thai pop music, making it perfect for gatherings with friends!
Everything we ordered this time was insanely delicious: 🐂 Crying Tiger The name is funny, but the flavor is so good serious! The Thai-style charcoal-grilled steak is absolutely stunning, with tender meat and a smoky aroma. It's never tough, and dipping it in Thai spicy sauce is a mind-blowing experience. Just perfect! 🍣 Spicy Salmon Salad The raw marinated salmon is super fresh, slightly spicy and tangy, with a bouncy texture. It's so appetizing! Must-try for salmon lovers! 🍲 Mama Tom Yum Hot Pot A huge pot of Tom Yum soup base filled with shrimp, crispy pork belly, egg yolk, Mama noodles, fried pork skin, and pork patties... The layers are rich, with a strong sour, aromatic, and spicy flavor. One sip and you're hooked. A must-order!! 🐔 Green Curry Chicken Pretty standard, but the green curry is rich in coconut aroma, and the chicken is smooth and tender. It's delicious and never disappoints, suitable for all taste preferences. 🍤 Prawn Pad See-Ew The top recommendation! The rice noodles are soft and flavorful, full of wok hei. The shrimp is fresh, and the bok choy is crisp. It's one of the best Pad See-Ew I've had in Melbourne. Order it with your eyes closed! 🧋 Thai Milk Tea & Pink Milk The Thai milk tea is rich and smooth without being overly sweet, and the pink milk is super cute and perfect for photos. Sweet-toothed folks shouldn't miss this! 🥥 Cendol Coconut Milk This coconut milk dessert deserves a special mention! It contains corn, jackfruit, and pandan jelly. It's ice-cold and super refreshing, sweet but not cloying. An absolute delight! 🍌 Banana Fritter The fried banana is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, paired with vanilla ice cream for an explosion of happiness. A must for dessert lovers!
In summary, this restaurant consistently delivers delicious food every time I visit. It's not one of those superficial Instagram spots; it's genuinely good! If you love Thai food, you'll regret not...
Read moreMy partner saw an AD for Mamao Buffet $49/hr we came in on a saturday they sat us down and asked what we were having, they made us pay for the buffet and made us pay instantly, the server then pointed at the QR code and said we can order here or order with her but didnt give us a menu so we were left flustered and told her we will have a look on the QR code. We couldn’t figure out where to order for the buffet items and we asked the server for help, she just pressed on it and walked off, didn’t wait to see if we would want to order with her after offering (?)We ordered and waited 40 minutes for our food (mind you its only 1hr window from the time you paid), nothing, so we called the server and another one came and asked if we have paid, we said we did and we’ve been waiting about 40 minutes for our food while others have sat in and received their food within 10 minutes, it was our fault for not querying earlier but we thought it was because they were busy, anyways she called the first server and she asked if we have ordered we said we have and are still waiting, she said we can order with her so we proceed to order food and about 10 minutes later the food finally came out, we wanted some more grilled prawns so we asked one of the waiters if we can order some more prawns and he asked if we’ve paid ?!? we have paid. overall the atmosphere and service was horrible in our experience. The food itself was a 5/10 in terms of their quality of seafood (boiled mussel, boiled crab, grilled prawns, grilled squid, raw crab papaya salad), quite dry but they do clean the seaweed inside the mussel, but the seasoning of the seafood was 7/10 there was a lot of umami and flavour which made it yummy but overall we wouldn’t be going here again, we would for the food if it weren’t for the service…noone bothered to tell us that their website wasn’t working properly or check up on us and proceeded to let us wait, it was hard because we dont speak...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at one of the best Thai restaurants in Melbourne CBD. I couldn't resist returning for a second visit within the same week, and I must say, the experience was exceptional.
One of the standout qualities of this restaurant is its commitment to preserving the authentic Thai taste. Unlike some Thai establishments that tend to lean toward sweetness, this restaurant understands the true essence of Thai cuisine – a perfect balance of spices and flavors that are not overly sugary.
The menu offers a delightful variety of dishes, each a testament to the chef's skill. On both visits, I was blown away by the boldness and depth of the flavors. From the aromatic curries to the zesty stir-fries, every dish I tried was a burst of authentic Thai goodness.
The service here is top-notch, with a genuinely friendly and attentive staff. They were more than willing to accommodate special requests and offer recommendations, which added to the overall dining experience. I'm happy to incorporate your suggestion into the review:
I was thoroughly impressed with the restaurant's commitment to authentic Thai flavors and excellent service. However, I do hope that in the future, they will consider expanding their entree menu to provide even more options for diners. This would undoubtedly enhance the overall dining experience and make this restaurant an even more enticing destination for Thai cuisine enthusiasts.
For anyone who appreciates Thai cuisine in its truest form, this restaurant is a must-visit. The commitment to authentic taste, combined with excellent service, makes it a standout choice in Melbourne CBD. I'll certainly be returning for more culinary adventures in the...
