We were really excited when this place first opened as we no longer had to travel to Flemington to taste their delicious laksa. It was fantastic at first but weâve since notice the quality of food and service rapidly decline. We have been here countless times since it opened. The laksa is still nice but the Flemington store seems better although the recipe should be the same? Bit confused really perhaps there was a change in management as weâve noticed all but one staff member has changed. The service is probably the main issue. We dined here Saturday night and the gent that took our order got it wrong. He also did not repeat our order which would have allowed us to clarify. It may have been our fault for not making it 100% as clear as day but we honestly thought the waiter understood. When the food came and we addressed the issue politely, the waiter got really angry (and said something in Chinese to another waitress, sounded like he was complaining that we didnât make it clear or something). The lady however then took over serving us and she was super nice! Polite and kept saying sorry for the mistake. She was very professional. But the incident made me quite uncomfortable. On top of that, as soon as we finished our meals, an older gent who looked like the manager asked us to leave as he needed the table back. It was like he stalked us out and told us to leave the second we finished our plates. Understandably there were people waiting for tables so we didnât make a fuss and just left. I feel as though the approach to service & quality of service should be better. Hopefully they can take on some feedback from customers and...
Read moreHas this place changed owner? It's nothing like whatever showing on the photos. It seems to be running down and the owners and staff don't seem to take good care of it now? They are nice and friendly but not seem know much about a good hospitality.
They currently only serve dishes on disposable containers. But they didn't tell us ahead before we sat down.
The fried rice tastes good but overpriced for what it's and the small portion.
I may have ordered the worst dish they have, pickle fish head noodles. For $17.80, it should be fresh fish fillets not deep fried fish head. And there isn't much flavour to it, only the pickle sourness and some fishy taste. The noodles are so dry even though it's cooked in the soup. It's like eating dry grass. Every bite is a pain.
I think the owner need to remove this dish.
Fresh chilli is extra 80 cents. First time I've heard that a restaurant charges fresh chilli.
As much as I want to support small business, if the owner is not trying to improve the dishes and bring back the vibe it used to be, I don't think I can come back again. Hawthorn has a lot of well priced, delicious and authentic Asian restaurants, you need to up the game if you want the business continues.
I'm giving one star for the taste of fried rice and one star for the...
Read moreRefrigerated and possibly microwaved meals. Donât pay to eat days old food. Never again.
The waitress gave us what felt like attitude when we entered, but with masks these days who knows.
We ordered our food and within 3 minutes, the Ipoh Hor Fun arrived and a minute later, so did the Nasi Lemak. It was way too quick and evident once we dug in.
The Nasi Lemak chicken wasnât fresh, reheated for sure. You could see that the chicken was all dark and old. The rice was cold. But, the worst part was the sorry excuse of an egg. The fried egg was ice cold. Let that sink in, fried hard boiled egg was ice cold, fridge cold, not room temperature cold. When asked, her response was, âwe always serve the egg cold, you should tell us you want it hotâ. Well, you should state in your menu that the fried egg is served straight from the fridge then.
So obviously the egg wouldnât be the only item prepared days in advance and served as âfreshâ. These guys should be shutdown for such practices. You can charge people for stale food. Spend your hard earned...
