This place inside Werribee Central, across from Coles checkout alongside the variety shop and bakery.
Currently they are running a daily menu that's available from their Facebook. My favourite was: Singapore noodle (Boldly flavoured but great balance of flavour. Not on their Daily menu at time of writing) Wat Tan Hor (very nice and fulfilling--great all-rounder dish. Recommended for first timers who can eat shellfish) Malaysian Fried Chicken / Har Cheong Gai (compared to others I've tried in Melbourne, the shrimp paste scent is not overwhelming. The fried chicken flavour was the dominant flavour with a faint hint of shrimp paste to add umami. Very delish and often readily available in their fried food display). You can buy two of these and grab a bag of salad from Coles for a pretty healthy and hearty lunch for two. Note that they also have 'fried chicken' which is different. Har Mee (great broth-which is the most important thing about the dish) Fried Koay Tiew - This had a great work hei and uses pork lard in the cooking (authentic). Great but too strongly flavoured for me personally. Perfect for those who prefers strong flavours.
Service is with lots of smiles even if they can be quite understaffed at times so if you're coming with a group of more than 4 I would call ahead to give them...
Read more*New review 19th Feb 2025 I haven't dined here much since they went on holiday, and they had a period where they didn't do dine in. Anyways the last two times I've come, I have been disappointed with the quality of the laksa. 1st time back, the egg noodle was over cooked that noodle texture was gone. Tonight we ordered 2 chicken laksa and one prawn sambal with rice. Both our laksas soup didn't have the rich creamy flavour. The soup was plain! We had to add soy sauce. Which we never do, for it to have some flavour. The eggplant was very bitter! Noodle was better since I requested for it to be less cooked. The prawn sambal was very oily. I use to come here for their laksa every week. But after tonight I won't be back. Also front staff is not good at all. I don't expect to be friendly and chat to us but at least not look like you hate your job. Used to be 2 other ladies there that at least 🙂 when we talk to them. Used to be (in my opinion) best laksa but now it's not even top 10.
Old review which was current for a few years (Great Laksa ! I always get the Chicken curry laksa. The meat is moist, tofu puffs on point and the soup is absolutely amazing. For under $16 ! It's become my weekly go to lunch spot. Hainanese Chicken with rice is...
Read moreSuch a gem in the West for authentic Malaysian food. Wat tan got cooked to perfection. The egg gravy is just fantastic with the rice noodle that already pan fried before. Very authentic. Prawn noodles is the star in the West. Finally a restaurant that sell prawn noodles where soup is full of prawn flavors. And serve with a whole egg as well as water spanish. Exactly how Malaysia served, apart from serving in here is bigger than Malaysia local. Their mixed veggie, aka 4 big stars finally have the petai. This ingredients is very hard to find in Malaysian restaurant. Their deep fried chicken wing and drumsticks taste exactly like in street food in KL. The coating is very local and original. This restaurant is very small. Dine in tables are very limited. It is very convenient with public transport, walking distance from train station and bus stop. Staff are very friendly. Price is average with this high quality of food. Strongly recommend to anyone who like Malaysian food. Plenty of parking nearby. It located inside the shopping centre, just...
