I go to Lauren from time to time when I miss and crave French pastries/cakes. I’m the last couple of years, the quality of their pastry has decreased hugely. I’ve had their croissants and pain-au-chocolat in the last few weeks, they were quite dry. Today we bought an apple turnover that was dry and barely had any apple compote inside. We bought strawberry tarts- the pastry was dry and soggy. They were filled with cream rather than custard. The staff also didn’t know their product well- though I can excuse that with the current pandemic that is seeing a huge amount of new staff having to be put on the floor quickly. We bought a few other cakes that overall were delicious. I’ve never been disappointed by their cakes! The apple turnovers used to be delicious! I hope they realise how poor the quality of the pastries are and rectify it. I can’t find another decent apple turnover...

11:26am on 20th July 2025, my partner and I purchased a La Noisette. Upon taking a bite, we immediately noticed an unusual sour taste and a strange smell. The cream filling inside was visibly discoloured—turning a yellowish shade—which clearly indicated spoilage.
We raised our concerns with the staff immediately. They took the spoiled product away but refused to offer a refund. Instead, they provided a replacement and claimed that the pastry had only been made that morning and should still be safe. When we asked to escalate the matter to a manager, the staff refused to provide any contact information. More worryingly, they attempted to discard the spoiled product in the bin, which appeared to be an effort to avoid accountability and eliminate evidence.

Unfortunately we had a terrible experience. We ordered a tea, a long black and a millefeuille. The tea was ok (from a standard bag), but the coffee was burnt and the millefeuille seemed to have been sitting there for days. The pastry itself was stale and soggy and the ridiculous amount of cream had a stange taste. We werent even able to eat more than a couple of spoonfuls, and of course, I didn't finish my coffee. I don't remember ever not being able to finish a pastry!
Overall I am very unimpressed. I would recommend any of the lovely local coffee shops instead, or even buying a pastry at the supermarket across the road (for a fraction...
