We went there on 23rd August for dinner to celebrate my sons Uni graduation We had a lovely time and table service was great. The food overall was good but my rib eye steak and a couple of my guest was underwhelming. It had a lot of fat and grizzles and not enjoyable. One was medium to well the other was medium rare and I had rare. No matter how it was cooked all the steaks had so much fat and grizzles . For a high end restaurant it's not good. The staff did ask how our meal was. I didn't want to complain in front of guests. When I went to pay I did mentioned to the Asian lady(Filipino) and she spoke to the manager and the manager didn't even come to apologise. The lady just told me he will let the chef know without even offering a discount which I wasn't asking for. The manager should at least come and apologise bec that's his role to see what's going on but he didn't want to deal with it. He was only a few steps in front of me and still ignored the fact. And got the lady to tell me that he will let the chef know as I've mentioned. He thinks I'm going to ask for a discount or refund. Despite that I stil gave a $,60 tip only bec the waiter Andy was very efficient and looked after us well. My bill is $1886 so it's not cheap. Obviously the manager doesnt care about his customers.

When I got home and saw the bill I noticed you charged 10% service charge which the lady didn't mention and got charge $31 for surcharge when I told her i will pay by debit card. So my bill was nearly,$200 more!! . Never been charged a service charge in Australia. If that was the case I should hve been informed what my bill consist of. That way I know than coming home finding out. People book restaurants and most dont know everything. As I said the bill should hve been explained. It's not about the money. My eldest son chose your rest bec he had dinner there before and liked it so that's why we're there to celebrate his brothers Uni graduation

I don't think I'll be coming back. Shame coz the table service was great but I only gave it a 3 because the manager neglected to hve a word with me nor apologise. He was arrogant and customers will eventually wake up. Do your job. I don't complain bec I want something in return. It's a constructive criticism. I've been in the industry for 40 yrs and been managing restaurants for 30 plus yrs and used to own 2 big restaurants.

Good luck is all I can say. I won't be coming back as...

Don’t even bother. The worst dining experience I’ve had which is super disappointing as we have been to Chadstone and South Bank Meat and Wine Co and have had the most outstanding experiences at both of them.

Staff were lovely on arrival but unlike the other restaurants, our waiter was constantly changing so we didn’t get to make a connection which I feel is important for a good experience.

We then tried to order off the aged steak menu but the flavour wasn’t to our liking (no issues there) so we decided to go with our favourite wagyu rib eye which we were then told has been unavailable for quite some time ( I get that covid can make things difficult, but we were super disappointed with this) we then decided to choose the next rib eye down but… you guessed it.. sold out. So our only option was their basic rib eye and their wagyu rump steak which we were told was an average cut of meat. We ordered the basic rib eye and the rib platter and crossed our fingers for a nice steak.

Whilst waiting for our food they tried to deliver us two drinks at two seperate times that weren’t ours and then told us that they had to move us to a different table because we ordered so much???

When we sat down at our new table, they immediately brought us the bowl for our rib bones and our water bowls to clean our fingers. These are brought to the table warm except they were brought out a good 30 minutes before our food arrived so upon time to use them, it was cold water? No other meat and wine co brings the water bowls out first.

This was a special occasion (my birthday) and we travelled from regional Victoria just to come for their well known and delicious steak. Instead we were served pub like steak, it was chewy and tasteless and again super disappointing.

At the end of the meal, the staff could tell we were really disappointed as they kept looking at us but nobody bothered to ask us how our meal was even as we were paying the bill. On exit of the restaurant we spoke to the waitress at the front and explained how disappointing our experience was and honestly she couldn’t of cared less.

Considering we spent $240 on this meal, I feel like it was a complete waste of money and a pub meal in outback Australia could’ve given me the same experience. Please do better for the sake of Meat and Wine co’s name because I know the other restaurants do the...

The Meat & Wine Co in South Yarra offers an outstanding dining experience from start to finish. As soon as you walk in, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, setting the tone for an unforgettable meal. The decor is stylish and modern with just the right amount of elegance, making it perfect for both special occasions and casual dinners alike.

One of the standout features of this restaurant is the extensive menu. Whether you're a seasoned steak lover or looking for something different, there’s something for everyone. They offer a wide selection of premium cuts, sides, and sauces, all crafted with quality and care. The menu is diverse and caters to different preferences and dietary needs, including a Halal range, which is a fantastic touch and not always easy to find at high-end steakhouses.

Now, let’s talk about the steaks—they were absolutely on another level. Cooked to perfection, beautifully seasoned, and bursting with flavour, each bite was better than the last. Whether you opt for a classic ribeye or something more adventurous, the quality of the meat really shines through. The sides and starters also complemented the mains perfectly, with fresh and delicious flavours.

The service was exceptional. The staff were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, making great recommendations and ensuring our meal went smoothly without being intrusive.

Overall, The Meat & Wine Co South Yarra is a top-tier dining destination. It delivers on all fronts—exceptional food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere. If you’re craving an incredible steak, particularly one that caters to a Halal diet, this is the place to go. I’ll definitely be returning for another...

Meat & Wine Co South Yarra – Great Food, But Service Needs Improvement I’ve always been a fan of Meat & Wine Co, especially their beef ribs, which I believe are the best in town. I’ve tried their steaks before, but after experiencing their full rack of beef ribs, I never wanted to order anything else, it’s just that good! I’ve frequented the Hawthorn branch and always had a great experience, so I decided to give the South Yarra location a try for the first time. Unfortunately, while the food was still top quality, the service was not as smooth as expected. The biggest issue was service speed—our group of eight people ordered drinks, and while some arrived quickly, others were ready but took over 15 minutes to reach our table. On top of that, we had to ask for basic things like water refills, which made it clear that the restaurant was likely understaffed and extremely busy. That said, I could see that every staff member was trying their best, running around to keep up with the crowd. We truly appreciate their effort, they were friendly and accommodating despite the challenges. Overall, amazing food as always, but service at this location needs improvement. I’d still return for the incredible beef ribs, but I hope they can improve staffing or management to keep up with demand. Thank you 🙏

We attended this restaurant after receiving a gift voucher. Having already visited the same restaurant in Docklands we were happy to dine in again. Must say that the service at this restaurant is excellent and second to none. We were handed a menu consistent with our gift voucher. On this occasion our entrée’s consisted of Scallop Ceviche and Prawns. Of course both were delicious. The mains Szechuan Calamari and Barramundi, adding a Farm Salad to share. Absolutely no complaints with the food or the service. Would have awarded a rating of 5 stars except for the fact that the menu we were given had 2 dishes to choose from in each category i.e. 2 entrees, and 2 mains. No problem here as I understand that the menu was commensurate with the dollar value of the voucher. My dissatisfaction lays with the fact that of the 2 mains and 2 entrees we could not choose the same dish. For instance, if one of us chose the Scallop Ceviche for the entrée then the other HAD to have the Prawns. For the Main we both would have liked the calamari but one of us had to have the Barramundi instead – by the way the Barramundi was very good but this is not the point. We parked at the Como Centre, so we walked from the car park directly into the restaurant. Very convenient.
