Arrogant and unapologetic head chef/ restaurant manager whose lousy attitude is reflected in the terrible service of her wait staff. I arrived with friends ordering myself a starter which was served to someone else with their identical starter on the same plate and table. He was lucky that both starters had shallots removed; otherwise, they could have gone into an anaphylactic shock due to an allergy (the chef removed the shallots of my starter without asking me). It’s unacceptable for two starters with two dietary requirements to be served to one person without adequate explanation. I was not even notified that my starter had arrived. The other person didn’t realise until I took issue with the wait staff; they had already eaten both starters. The waitress didn’t apologise, providing the solution of asking me to order the starter again at the regular price, despite already waiting an hour for food. The waitress blamed the other customer for eating both starters. Meanwhile, the group had been waiting over an hour for our mains and 30 minutes for our drinks. I requested and spoke with the manager/ head chef; the chef came out with an attitude my partner did not appreciate. The chef’s response was to tell my partner to leave the restaurant and write a review if we were unhappy with the service. My partner and I didn’t want to leave, and we tried to find an amicable solution. However, as anyone with self-respect would, my partner and I decided to go after the chef continuously repeated, “if you’re not happy, just leave.” My partner left the restaurant. I stayed to confront the head chef. As I approached the service desk, I saw a young girl who looked under 10 years old serving plates on the bar. If the restaurant is busy and struggling on the weekend, they should hire more staff! My discussion with the chef was cut short after she complained about the number of orders stacking up, telling me to leave if I was not happy, so that’s...
Read moreMy friend and I were so happy to find this place. Quality Vietnamese is so important and this place is. Love waiting, decor and the food was beautiful. I took leftovers how because we went a little overboard.
The Pho was so good the next day. I actually had it for breakfast like I have when I visited Vietnam.
One suggestion to the owners, is that you shouldn't assume every customer doesn't know how to use the lettuces for spring rolls and other dishes.
In 30 years of eating Vietnamese food this was the first time someone tried to teach me how to eat springrolls. Or asked me if I knew.
It wasn't a bad thing and they were being nice about it, I just found it funny as I'd never experienced that before, not even in Vietnam.
But I don't live in Sandringham, so maybe the locals aren't as experienced. But most people from Melbourne...
Read moreHard to fathom why it would be marked as “on its way” with delivery when after 20 mins past the “latest arrival time” and three “request updates” ignored a phone call finally confirms it was never picked up to start with and then having to wait another 15mins for arrival and no really concern or apology over the phone. 1 hour all up waiting for delivery on top of the time it took to “cook”. Not good enough sorry. The food was barely warm by the time it arrived and there was a missing item. Very disappointed in our first experience with your restaurant and won’t ever return. Was very overpriced for what it was and how long it took. Very confusing as to why meatballs in Pho is actually meatballs but ordering steamed meatballs is...
