I attended a boxing event at Melbourne Pavilion, and I must say it was an exceptional experience!
The event I attended was for boxing/MMA. The venue is perfect for boxing, offering a great combination of space, comfort, and visibility.
The atmosphere was electric, with the crowd's energy adding to the excitement of the night. Each fight was thoroughly entertaining, showcasing high levels of skill and sportsmanship.
The staff were professional and ensured everything ran smoothly, they efficiently managed entry, minimizing wait times and ensuring everyone found their seats quickly. Security was visible and attentive, maintaining a safe environment throughout the event. Additionally, the event staff provided clear directions and assistance whenever needed, making it easy to navigate the venue. The organization of the fights was seamless, with minimal downtime between bouts, keeping the excitement levels high. Concessions were well-stocked and staffed, ensuring attendees could grab refreshments without missing any action. Their professionalism and attention to detail truly made for an enjoyable and hassle-free experience
Overall, Melbourne Pavilion is an outstanding venue for boxing events, and I highly recommend it to both fighters...
Read moreI attended this venue last week, and was not impressed with the entry to the premises. My wife having just had a surgery found it extremely difficult to enter and exit due to NO disabled entry/exit ramps, and having to navigate very narrow gaps between tables. Cable runs across the floor didn't make things easier either. The venue staff were very helpful which was good. There is no disabled parking anywhere onsite...oh that's right...there is no parking onsite. Only in streets or taking the chance of parking in another business parking spots and maybe getting towed away. I witnessed three cars being towed from across business driveways whilst walking the 1.6Km back to where I had been able to park the car. The catering at the event we attended was all finger food of varying styles brought out continuously by very friendly and efficient staff. I am a Coeliac, and having been forwarded, the gluten free menu (the same menu as everyone else bar 1 dish) was very good. Bar/wait staff also very good. I have rated this 1 star because of the parking and lack of disabled access and the difficulties navigating the premises (NO ramps, stairs at both entrances, and narrow metal detector pass through to enter) whether by wheelchair or...
Read moreOverall, I am very dissatisfied with the 2018 Swinburne Ball event held at Melbourne Pavilion last night.
We arrived at 6:45pm expecting to be allowed into the venue at 7pm (as stated on the event time). However, we were all left outside in the rain & wind waiting for at least 30 minutes. Once we were allowed inside, we had to continue wait another 30 minutes to have our name marked off the guest list, which was handled very poorly by 2-3 people when there was a guest list of 700+ in attendance. After those issues were sorted it was around 8pm we were finally allowed to enter the function room.
The two-course dinner was abysmal. I had the steak with mashed potatoes & about 4 green beans. The steak was incredibly overcooked and felt like I was eating pure rubber. Maybe one of the worst steaks I've ever eaten.
The worst part of the night was the fact that everybody was quite literally 'kicked out' by the security staff around 11:30pm, meaning we spent a total of 3 and a half hours at the venue. I must admit, considering the amount of money each person had paid to attend this event, I find this disappointing and a waste of money.
I would not recommend this venue to anyone if they plan to make a booking for a function...
