Luminous Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Melbourne

Unfortunately was terrible from the very beginning - sad because we are local and would love a close by restaurant we could visit often

We were the only 2 people in the restaurant with our 1 year old and we were there 5-6pm

The young lad who sat us down looked miserable and didn’t engage in any conversation at all There was absolutely no ambiance at all We asked for a high chair and when it came over it’s was covered in old food not just little it was all over where he sits so they haven’t been cleaned - I asked for a wipe to clean it

We ordered food and drinks pretty quickly My husband beer took roughly 15-20mins to come out - we thought this was unusual as it was it really just us there Eventually he came over to say they were out of the beer he had chosen. Which is fine he ordered a different beer but just took ages

We asked if we could have the door closed as it was freezing we kept our jackets on to then realise after it was closed that their aircon was on full blast above us

Food came and it did look great! I ordered fish n chips and husband had the Parma. The salad and dressing was great! I was eating my fish to which I realised it was completely raw which obviously put me off eating any more. No one came to check in on us if everything was ok so when we had finished I went a showed them my fish They didn’t charge us for it without hassle which was good - but the comment that was made by the chef was ‘yes they are different thickness that’s why’ I found that odd. You can’t blame the thickness of the item you are cooking as a chef you should check right?

Anyone he was very polite and we paid for Everything else.

I ask for an itemised bill for my reference which seemed to be difficult - he gave me one and I checked it and it was someone’s else’s bill Anyway he couldn’t get mine up but I felt we had been over charged so we calculated it together and we had been overcharged - he still couldn’t figure out how to get the bill so he gave me the difference we overpaid in cash and then said ‘don’t think bad of us we aren’t trying to purposely overcharge you’ and I said ‘I don’t think that at all people make mistakes that’s fine this is why I check :)’

I just found the whole evening really awkward and the atmosphere was strange - they didn’t handle it very well

This is the second time we have been The first time the food was fine but again the staff and atmosphere was non existent Based on this we won’t be back

My partner and I were greeted by a polite, well greeting man, it made the first part of the dining experience inviting. But it ended there. We waited 45minutes to get our order taken when there was barely anyone in the restaurant. The female waitresses constantly looked over but was too busy talking to each other to come over. Order was taken and children were at our table making a lot of noise, doing what kids do, but I dont understand why they couldnt do it at their own tables. I noticed some of the kids were actually the kids of people that work there or they were just sitting around, not workers but knew the workers. I find this very unprofessional and it made my experience so much worse. The food finally came out 1 hour later, other diners that came in before getting their meals before ours, their service was very quick compared to ours. We ordered 2 desserts and only one came out. We went to pay and one female worker was near us, seen us ready to pay but walked past us and started cleaning tables knowing we were there waiting to pay.
