The Phoenix Hotel — Restaurant in Melbourne

A fantastic venue, this is definitely one of the local places I would recommend you to pop in to when you're next passing thru Point. So many good points to mention:

• opening hours from 7am thru to 3am makes it such an easy to access venue • a large carpark which is never totally filled up, & laid out in such a way you will never have to walk far to get to the entrance • a bistro with a large dining area, that serves up a drool worthy menu that is very reasonably priced • a pokies area of a more intimate feel with around 50 or so machines (just my estimate, not actual numbers) that on nights when it is busier still always has a easy going feel to it • a TAB that on weekends has its own menu smaller than the menu of the bistro, so you can keep punting whilst still getting a feed. • a drive thru bottle shop(but please always remember don't drink & drive!) • security & bar staff who always are friendly & happy, you're guaranteed to be greeted with a smile, or even a good joke if the right people happen to be on shift at the time

If this doesn't convince you that this is worth putting on your list of places to visit then i don't know what will. Need I say more or have I convinced you enough that you have already begun to get ready to head on over? Seriously, do yourself a favour & visit!!

Booked my mums 70th birthday in upstairs function room and had room at the back near the lift and outdoor area. It was perfect for our group. Josh who was managing on the night was awesome, he was attentive, non intrusive, listenned and asked appropriate questions. He served the kids their yummy sausage rolls first before the adults as id asked him to earlier. The kids were well looked after and he catered to our vegans, vegos, celiacs and all. Only complaint would be the microphone didnt work and he tried to get it going but it wasnt a big issue. The food servings were larger than expected, we added to the standard 6 cocktail servings to 8 servings, with 2 of the mushroom arancinis and as much as the arancinis and sausage rolls were a hit, we had too much food, 6 wpuld have been sufficient. Outdoor area was handy and recommended as still felt the smokers werent far away and part of it. Recommend the upstairs function room, Josh and the food. Mum...

the wait staff are friendly. That is all this restaurant has going for it. Our table all ordered our meals at the same time and they came out 2 at a time over the space of an hour. Mine and my partners came out last and I’m sure they had been forgotten and were only brought out once we had inquired how much longer they would be (the other 5 people on our table had finished their meals and it had been an hour since we ordered). There was no explanation or real apology. To make the situation so much worse was the fact that the lamb souvlaki was actually disgusting. The meat had been slow cooked or something and was of poor quality. I couldn’t eat half of it because it was just fat. So disappointed given it’s a fairly expensive meal. The chicken burger was also below standard and was just really greasy. Would not return to this pub and would strongly advise others to go elsewhere in point cook until the phoenix can pick...
