ORDERED: 🥟 Magic Momo Platter: 5 pieces of steam, 5 pieces fried, 5 pieces with sweet chilli ($26.50) 🧆 Pani puri (8 pieces) ($10.50) 🌮 Samosa chat ($12.50)
It was $29.60 for my portion between two, which included a Mango Lassi drink for myself and the card surcharge!
REVIEW: 📌 I really appreciated the opportunity to try Nepalese dishes at Magic Momo Kafe. The platters are a perfect way to try the iconic Nepal dish, momos, because they give you plenty of variety!
🥬 Momos are more savoury and filled than Chinese xiao long bao, featuring things like lettuce and carrot and not just pork. I have a weakness for fried food, so I found that the fried momos were my favourite! My partner like the sweet chilli momos because he found that it enjoyed the additional sweetness and spice of flavour. I also ordered my favourite Indian street foods - pani puri and samosa chat and enjoyed those. The pani puri comes in 8 and were a little large for my mouth. 😢 Inside was a generous bit of soft potato, and with the pani puri water it was a refreshing bit of heaven. ☁ Samosa chat was a little too saucy and would've appreciated seeing the samosa within the pool of flavour. Nonetheless, the fried elements held its shape and somehow, its flavour. There was quite a bit of food between two, and for future me: I could go without the samosa chat.
Service was efficient and they kept a keen eye on our water. The environment is brightly lit, with neon decor and a stream of lanterns hanging from the ceiling. 🏮

Read moreThis is the best Nepalese food ever in city laneway. They have 5 different flavours of momo, that's the dumplings with chicken or lamb. Their momo is full of meat mixture, very tasty. Their chilli sauce is just a perfect match to dip with the momo. The momo set also serve with some veggies, very healthy. The grilled chicken is also very good. Lots of herbs coated and hence the meat is very tasty. The beaten rice is super good. Beaten rice is like puff rice. Lots of different veggies come with the rice set. The chicken is also very different cooking method, moist with sauce, taste really good with rice together. If you mix them together, it will add flavor to the rice to the next level. The rice set also come with small pancake and egg. Their decorations is also very cute. This restaurant is quite huge. Can fit multiple large groups. Restaurant itself is really nice, looks very trendy with Nepalese decorations and picture. Staff are extremely patient and friendly, which is really rare to find this good customer service in the city. They also serve alcohol too. This restaurant is just next to Flinders st station, very accessible via public transport and plenty of parking nearby. Will certainly come back...

First off, we had to try the momo platter because, well, it's in the name, right? And oh boy, did it not disappoint. Each momo was like a little surprise party for your taste buds – so much flavor packed into such a tiny package. It's like they know a secret recipe or something.
