Malvern Fish and Chips — Restaurant in Melbourne

Was hopeful of a good fish and chip shop, as I can't find one locally, alas, this isn't it. 11/02/18 - Ordered over the phone after selecting these guys based on good Google reviews (will be wary of that moving forward). Driving home, the fish had a smell. A bad, bad smell, that got stronger as time passed. I was hopeful it was a spice thing, maybe Hunky Dory-ish. But when i got home and opened it, we knew it was off fish. It stunk to high heaven by then, so we called to alert them (to avoid them selling any to anyone else- this had food poisoning written all over it). My wife said they were apologetic, and asked us not to eat it, but to return for a replacement. It was 4 pieces of blue grenadier ($26.00), so my wife returned it. When she got back she said they weren't very apologetic, they blamed the supplier (I've had off fish to prepare before, you can smell it before and during cooking, so no excuses) and offered nothing extra (above replacing the four pieces) for our time, petrol and inconvenience. All this I could excuse. The fact that my car stunk of off fish for most of last week, and I finally had to pay to have it professionally cleaned, I can't excuse. Won't be back. Can't excuse all...

This place has hit a new low.

With the last owners, the food was good, but they never seemed to be open.

The missus was in the mood for a chip dinner, so I took the gamble on them being open, to find they were.

With new owners, and a splash of paint, things looked promising. Although I was a but alarmed to watch pre cut processed chips coming from a factory plastic sack.

I went home with said food, only to watch her nearly throw up with disgust.

Now, I'll eat any old rubbish, and thought, stop exaggerating woman. So sticking a bit in my gob, it was just disturbing. It was undercooked, basically raw and soggy with frozen moisture mixed with oil. And the battered fish was also under done to the point of... Well I'm not sure really, but it was bad.

For the first time in my life when sober, I threw fast food away.

I'd suggest the fishmonger in Stockland, named the Pirates Cove, who are fantastic.

If you go here, I do hope they improve...

Ordered from Bossy Burgers on Uber Eats - recieved literally almost none of our $50 order. After speaking to the driver, he advised this was all he was given and we would need to contact the store. We double checked what we ordered, all was correct on Ubers end - so we spent ages combing the internet for a phone number to contact the store and the only thing we could find was an address. My boyfriend had to drive down, only to discover Bossy Burgers is actually affiliated with Malvern Fish n Chips. He advised them of all the missing items, to which they were unapologetic, dismissive and just told us to contact customer service for a refund... Dont be fooled by obvious friend reviews. After what should have been a relaxing take away night turned into a 1.5 hour mission, We will not...
