My first time coming back to the Malvern vale, I was extremely excited to see the new outdoor beer garden, after so much anticipation during its construction I was more than appalled to walk into, what appeared to be some sort of kindergarten playground, the seats reminded me of my days as a small toddler painting stick figures. The what appear to be recycled āhallowā walls add some sort of depressing feel with there baige colour. The only possible compliment I can give to the beer garden is itās spaciousness. After years of joy and love coming to the vale, the moment I walked in was when I knew that a truly remarkable icon of the Malvern area had finally lost its touch. I am honestly considering finding a new pub with a more cultural feel, rather than come back to the Malvern vale. Yours sincerely, Mifsud.
Dear owners, I appreciate your response, and am glad to say upon return to the vale on my frequent Tuesday visit I have seen the change in the decor of the furniture has greatly improved and for that I am very thankful. To expand on my comment about ācultural feelā establishments that have a classic pub feel such as young and Jackson in the city or a not as intense version the palace in camberwell. To try and apply this to the Malvernvale the industrial wires and modernistic beer garden feel would have to be redone and put some more traditional feel. Adding the feel of a bar more so than a bistro would also be perfect. A great comparison is the brick wall opposite the beer garden, itās traditional feel completely contrasts the beer garden. To draw another comparison with the old beer garden, the timber tables and floor created a beautiful, homely feel to the outdoor area. I hope this constructive cristicsm gives you a better idea of what regular residents of the vale are looking for, and through speaking to other regulars I can confirm that this is a common theme in all there comments. Thank you for your response it is very much appreciated and hopefully you will take this and use the potential you have to improve what is already a great...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was a really disappointing experience for a Hotel that I previously held in high esteem.
Arrived at 7:30 and ordered a couple of eye fillets medium well and a couple of glasses of Cab Sav.
Nothing too difficult there.
40mins later and steaks still hadnāt arrived. A polite enquiry and the waiter returns with a bowl of chips and apology advising there had been a mix up with our order. (Ie forgotten!).
Steaks finally arrive. One is good the other horrible chewy and sinuey.
Then we notice on the table that Tuesday night is free bottle of wine night. Order two mains and get a bottle of red for free. Too bad nobody told us and we had spent $44 on three glasses of red. Poor training for the staff.
The worst part was when my wife complained about the steak the waiter tried to argue the point saying he had come to check on our meals and we said all was ok. True the first bit fine, but then sinue city. Horrible. $43.50 for the Eye Fillet Special. Expected better. Much better. Cost of one...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreService was great, atmosphere was standard! Food was below average. So Iāve been here twice within the last three weeks. First time I ordered the barramundi, it was soggy and tasteless and really quite overpriced. My colleague got the same thing and was equally as disappointed. Second time was last night and I ordered the seafood marinara it was tasteless. seafood was large in size but literally tasteless. It was like they dumped a whole lot of boiled spaghetti in a bowl and added some tasteless seafood. Two of my other work colleagues ordered the same as me and were equally disappointed. My other work colleague got the ribs and they were not good at all. Whilst my other work colleague got the chicken and mushroom rigatoni and it was DELICIOUS! maybe Iām just ordering the wrong thing? But honestly itās expensive and food is plain. I donāt think Iāll risk it and go back a third time. Or maybe I will and Iāll order the mushroom and...
