July 2023 ORDERED: 🍞 House-made rosemary focaccia ($8.00) (they can supply oil on request!) 🌯 Wagyu tartare cannoli ($10.00 each)
🍝 Spaghetti cacio e pepe, black truffle ($36.00) 🥞 10 cheese lasagna, wild & local mushrooms ($39.00) 🍟 Potato chips, herb seasoning ($15.00)
Spent $59.00pp between two without dessert.
REVIEW: For me, the quality is slowly dropping. Revised all ratings to be 3/5 stars from 5/5. Very mid tier now.
I've decided that the wagyu tartare is tiny. Spaghetti cacio e pepe is still a MUST order dish, while the potato chips had a good range of crispy and the soft middles that my partner likes.
It was nice that the 10 cheese lasagna wasn't as overwhelming as we thought. The mushrooms really add an earthiness to it that grounds the flavours while adding texture. But the thought of having something that decadent again makes my stomach a little queasy. 😂 November 2022 Marameo has made changes to the menu again! Some of the things we got: 🐟 Fish entree with mandarin, creme fraiche 🌯 Wagyu tartare cannoli ($10.00 each) 🍝 Spaghetti cacio e pepe, black truffle ($34.00)
Spent $61pp without dessert.
REVIEW: Wagyu Tartare cannoli remains a favourite. I feel like they're actually decreasing in size compared to when they first opened, though... Nonetheless, it still remains a place I'll take friends and happily dine at. August 2022 ORDERED: 🦪 Oyster, pear + raspberry vinaigrette ($6.00 each) 🌯 Wagyu tartare cannoli ($10.00 each) 🥝 Kingfish, kiwi, lime, dill, caper, creme fraiche ($26.00)
🍝 Spaghetti cacio e pepe, black truffle ($34.00) 🍝 Conchiglie, tuna carpaccio, pistachio, tarragon ($36.00) 🍝 Saffron pappardelle, Wagyu shank ragù, bone marrow, lemon ($37.00) 🥦 Chargrilled broccoli, pecorino, balsamic, sesame 15
🍋 Limoncello tart ($18.00) 🍰 Tiramisu lamington ($19.00)
Spent around $65pp
REVIEW: Marameo is one of those restaurants I keep coming back to. I've lost count how many times I've been here, and I discovered them when I was recommended "Cacio e pepe" videos on youtube during lockdown... so I had to find a restaurant that made this!
Marameo delivered and then more. Gorgeous intimate space, dimly lit, which makes it great to catch up in groups. They've updated the menu since I last went, and now my top 4 recommendations are: the Kingfish and Kiwi from the entree: it's so so refreshing wagyu tartare: I don't typically like the sweet cannoli, but something about a savoury stuffing made me fall in love Spaghetti cacio e pepe: it's one of their SIGNATURES limoncello tart: for that clean finish
Highly recommend. Book now and get ready for a...

starters house-made rosemary focaccia $8, 6/10 ive had better elsewhere its crispy but why is the bread like basically cold?? it was not warm at all
marinated vegetables, tomato, basil $16, 5/10 TBH when this was brought out i didn’t even know this was the dish LMAOOO like it was THAT SMALL i thought it was just a dip that came for free with the focaccia itself like im paying $16 for this, i expected a larger portion not memorable at all tbhhhh like yeah it had that spiced tomato flavour but its like eh
fried calamari, fennel, tartar salt $27, 6/10 it was crispy defs nice, salted well the calamari was kinda chewy like u it doesnt have that typical melt in the mouth vibe that calamari usually has it came with like this boiled piece of fennel uhhh that tbh was one of the most ‘interesting’ things ive ever eaten, defs would have been better if they fried it the texture of the fennel just didn’t match the fried calamari at all
mains im not gonna dive into depth about the mains bc tbh they just were not that good we got the 10-cheese lasagna ($39) and it was soooo heavy like i felt like i needed to drink 2L of water after eating that. i love a good cheese lasagna but when you have that much cheese it’s like just too much (FOR ME) we also got the spaghetti with black truffle in cacio e pepe sauce ($36). the spaghetti was cooked well it was definitely al dente which is good! the flavours again like it was just sooo creamy it was a bit of a hard eat for my friends and i.
overall, i would not come back like there are better italian places out there, sorry bout this! also the service, idk, the waiter kept leaning over us and like checking on our enjoyment of the food bit too excessively that it was a bit...

Marameo is the cheeky younger sister restaurant to the well known @barcarolina_sthyarra, @tettodicarolina_ and @ilbacaromelbourne. The name itself is a bit of fun, meaning to tease, ‘thumb one’s nose at’. 🤪
The menu offers a small selection of Italian dishes including mostly antipasti and pasta. If you’re super hungry I suggest opting for either their Chef’s Choice ($75pp) or Set Menu ($85pp) options. The drinks menu is impressive (and a little expensive), plenty of refreshing Spritz’s and citrusy cocktails to have a try at. I would recommend the La Strada and La Dolce Vita🍹
We started with a couple of entrees. The burrata itself was nice however I wasn’t entirely sold on its accompaniments of zucchini, pistachio and mint. It would have been nice to have some focaccia or something to have with it. The Gnocchi Fritti was a little undercooked, wasn’t as golden as I prefer it.
The Cacio e Pepe was really peppery and delicious, dish of the night for us. The Ragu was also very tasty but wasn’t the kind I prefer. The meat was chopped up and diced rather than pulled apart, leaving it unincorporated and you either got the pasta or the meat - not both. Finishing on dessert was a bit of a let down especially because Tiramisu is one of my favourites. It was far from traditional, very wet and not at all spongey.
Service was really great from start to finish by all that assisted us, so props to them. Everything we had was enjoyable but was anything good enough to make me want to return? I’m not sure....
