I honestly don’t even know where to start with this disaster of a McDonald’s in Altona North. I came in hoping for a quick, decent meal, but what I got was an absolute nightmare. First off, my burger didn’t even have a patty. Yes, you read that right — no meat at all. Just a sad, soggy bun soaked in so much sauce it was literally dripping everywhere. I swear, it looked like someone had just dumped a gallon of sauce on it without any care, and honestly, it felt like something straight out of a horror story. The texture was disgusting, and the whole thing was so messy I could barely even hold it without it falling apart or dripping all over my hands.
The fries were a complete joke — cold, limp, and soggy, like they’d been sitting in some forgotten corner for hours before being shoved in the bag. You know the kind — the ones that taste like cardboard and leave you wondering if anyone at this place even cares about quality anymore. The drink I got was barely half full and tasted like it had been watered down to the point of tastelessness. How is that even possible at a place like McDonald’s? It felt like I was being ripped off.
And don’t even get me started on the staff. If the food was bad, the service was worse. I tried to speak to someone about the missing patty and the disgusting state of my meal, and I was met with nothing but attitude and eye rolls. One staff member acted like I was personally inconveniencing them just by asking for a fix. No apology, no offer to remake the order — just cold, uninterested responses that made me want to leave immediately. It was as if they didn’t care at all about their job, the customers, or the standards McDonald’s is supposed to uphold.
I honestly think this place is a health hazard. The way the food was handled and served showed a complete lack of care, and the general messiness of the store only added to that impression. I’m seriously considering reporting this location because it’s not just about bad service — it’s about unsafe and disgusting food being served to people.
If you’re thinking about coming here, don’t. Save yourself the disappointment and go literally anywhere else. This place needs a complete overhaul — new management, retraining of staff, and a deep clean from top to bottom. Until then, I’m warning everyone I know to stay far, far away. Asked for chips and nuggets to be made fresh.
After getting the order I ate one nugget and the fries to find both items not fresh at all. Manager replaced nuggets and although the fries was not fresh it was ok!
Returning to my table I ate my fillet o fish while my 2 kids had their Cheeseburger and Chicken & Cheese. Upon finishing my Fillet o fish I went to start on my Quater Pounder. My son doesn't like pickles and always takes them out of his Cheeseburger and I put them in to my Quater Pounder. I love pickles, when I asked him where are the pickles he smiled and said there was no pickles. I thought ok not a big issue. I started eating my Quater pounder only to find out it was also missing pickles. Check the Big Mac and that was also missing pickles. At this point I'm already upset
How does this even happen? 3 seperate burgers missing pickles.
Manager explained the must have rushed making the order and forgot to put the pickles in (1 burger yes I can understand not 3) and offered a refund for the food not eaten and I accepted.
I believe the kids in the back really don't care about this place and what they are doing.

I lodged a complaint with McDonald's via their order app on 26th January 2022 and never received a response.
I emailed Hobson Bay City Council today. Hopefully, they will do something about it.
My burgers came out with grease and stains all over the boxes. I took them back to the counter and asked for replacement.
The person behind the counter asked if it was just the boxes that are dirty and if I just want new boxes.
I was given two replacement Big Mac about 5 minutes later. Once again, these have grease on the boxes plus bits of cheese and lettuce as well.
I took the untouched burger meals back to the counter and asked for a refund. A second staff member was also there. She tried to wipe the grease off the lid of the burger boxes but eventually gave me my refund from the till.
There seems to be serious issues with food safety handling standards at McDonald's Altona. Staff seem to be aware of the issue but do not care. This poor attitude seems to go all the way to the manager who I presume to be the person who processed my refund.
