Men-Tei Ramen — Restaurant in Melbourne

Taste: 2/5, gyudon insanely salty, katsu curry didn’t have much substance was mainly rice with 2 slices of potato, the crumbs for the katsu chicken was a bit too hard (hurt teeth to bite), curry sauce dissapeared early on So i was just eating plain rice, it’s very Chinese taste which is not ideal since I can just have that at home instead of Japanese restaurant Flexibility: 0/5, staff was not that polite about it either, asked if it’s possible to change the katsu chicken to teriyaki chicken in curry sauce, straight no, sounded as if they were angry at me, I don’t know if it’s asking Too much now days to have some manners but ruined the mood a little bit Speed: 0/5, took 45 minutes, they kept promising 5 minutes more to the girl waiting for her take away who ordered at the same time as us but she ended up waiting for probably 60 ish minutes, she was still waiting when we finished eating… Staff: 1/5, did not even talk to us when we walked in, just stared at us blankly and waited for us to walk over, then kept staring and talking amungst themselves until one of them started clearing a table for us, still in the end no words were spoken to us, they just handled us a menu, So we sat ourselves down based on the assumption that the table they cleared was for us Overall i wouldnt recommend this, honestly would recommend the chinese or Taiwan (?) cafe (Restore Cafe) 2 buildings down (1-2min walk) with pretty much the exact same menu, but much friendlier and they Do it much better. This is only if you just HAD to eat at Caulfield station area, honestly all the restaurants in this area are very, VERY bad/mid-low tier, even the Lanzhou, they use instant noodles last time I went, either that or the noodles were left So long it dried up into the wavy shape and So when we were served it looked and tasted like slightly thicker 2...

Probably the worst ramen and Japanese style food I ever tried in Melbourne. Other than the Japanese song they kept playing, nothing feels like Japanese. we’ve ordered the MenTai Ramen and a ox tongue rice.

Ramen noodle is clearly from pre-made soggy ones, pork broth is heavily flavored by MSG, got a headache in the middle of meal. I usually get this headache if the food is heavily infused with MSG.

The ox tongue rice is weirdly taste. Tasted like chinese fermented sausage for some reason. But otherwise flavor was bit blend.

Portion: Ramen is small, would not satisfied if you’re hungry++. Got 3 slice of tiny ChaSiu. Rice portion was ok with rice topped 2/3...

I am very disappointed with the food and when I complained they didn't want to help me out. I ordered the Ramen tonkatsu chicken it was so dry and overcooked. As for the actual Ramen soup it was absolutely disgusting it tasted like raw egg. I have ramen soup all the time, I have never seen it as a murky soup it is always a clear soup with the noodles in it. I have also traveled to Japan and have never come across a ramen soup like the one I was given at Men Tie Ramen. It was so bad I asked for my money back but they didn't care about my complaint. I will never go back there again. Hopefully they will take this complaint and improve their food and...
