MiiA Mexiico Bentleigh — Restaurant in Melbourne

I've ordered Mexico City for take away a few times, and loved the flavours from the ingredients... however the wraps were always a let down! So I went to eat in and eat fresh, and the food was great! Quality control for take away is always a challenge, so my review isn't based on that!

Unfortunately, this was just a bad experience eating in.. due to one waitress (and potentially the actions of the kitchen), but management and the other waitresses are always welcoming and bubbly whenever I have come in for take-away in the past. Still going to be a returning customer no doubt.

In this situation, there was a mix-up with my order and one dish was given to another table. When the other dishes came out for the customers c. 5 minutes later, they told the waitress that they didn't order the dish. The waitress took it back to the kitchen to check, and brought it out to my table. As a result, I was served a dish that had been sitting at another customers table for 5 minutes, which was conversed over. Typically not an issue, but it was sitting there for a while, flu season is upon us and mainly... the purpose of eating in was to eat it fresh!

When I raised this with the waitress, she said they didn't touch it. When she then offered to have it remade, it came back within 30 seconds. It's not a 30 second dish to prepare and I could see that it was only re-plated as the flag was removed and its hole was still there.

I'm not usually one to write such reviews. However, I felt compelled to prepare this one. The atmosphere, service and food were well above expectations for a local Mexican haunt. In fact, I would go as far to say that the waiter/owner here 'made the night' for our family celebrating our daughter's 11th birthday. This guy needs kudos, and general thanks for going above and beyond to make this a very special evening indeed. Nothing was fake at all, just pure friendliness and passion for looking after his customers, all with a general infectious friendly vibe. Forget about arrogant, bearded hipster waiters - none of that here!! This was one warm welcome that continued for the whole evening. It was service rarely found in Australia, let alone in Bentleigh. It's no wonder the place was pumping, full of no-doubt many return patrons. We will certainly be returning ourselves based on how well we were looked after. Last weekend I was walking along center road looking for a place to eat. A place called Mexico City caught the corner of my eye with its beautiful exterior and lively atmosphere. Just off appearances alone it would of been a crime if didn't go in. I went in and when i tell you, they didn't disappoint. Modern, comforting, inviting, dynamic! I went in and the customer service is impeccable, somehow on a busy weekend night they managed to seat me without a booking. Two wonderful young women were at my attendance that night and they made me experience just that much better, thank you Amy and Renu. The food was given to me in a timely manner and GOOD LORD was it scrumptious. I got the fajita and wow, i was so full but this dish just leaves you craving more because it was so good. Please tell your chef's that this was the best Mexican food i have ever had.
