Misty Pot is a cosy little Korean diner tucked away near West Melbourne Station, perfect for those colder Melbourne nights when you just want something warm and hearty.
We ordered a pretty big spread, and while everything was solid, the soups were definitely on the pricier side — around $20–$30 each for beef tendon or braised beef-style stews. That said, both soup bases hit the spot. The clear one was clean and refreshing, while the red broth was deeper, richer, and packed with meat. Could really taste how the flavours developed in the broth.
We also shared a kimchi pancake, which was okay — I prefer the thinner, crispier ones, but I think the thicker style might be more traditional. The marinated pork was juicy and tender, and we added some tteokbokki on the side, but honestly by then we were already hitting food coma territory.
The banchan (side dishes) were fine, though I’ve had better elsewhere. Still nice to nibble on between dishes.
What really stood out was the service — we had a small table, and when they saw we were struggling to fit everything, the staff quickly offered to move us to a bigger one without us even asking. Just that extra bit of thoughtfulness that makes you want to come back and support a local...

Back again—and now they have galbi tang! This is my go-to spot for galbi tang near the CBD. Other places I’ve tried were either too salty or had tough meat, but here, everything is just right.
Personal tip: Ask for the volcano sauce to dip the meat in. That spicy kick balances out the richness and makes it even more addictive.
The kimchi soup was a bit salty for my liking—I prefer it more sour—but overall still a great experience. Definitely coming back!
Beef in soup is slightly dry for me, and I prefer that the fermented radish could be more sour. Now it is a bit too sweet for me 🥹 you gotta eat rice and soup at the same time, I reckon it tastes better than eat them separately. I added extra glass noodles as I love eating rice + noodles soup together. Sooo moreish.
Mini fish pancake: I don't know if they put too many eggs in the powder mixture or something, but yeah, I can only taste the egg and it's not crispy. You probably should just order the standard seafood pancake for a better experience.
I really like their homemade sweet & chilli sauce with an amount of fire kick 🔥 would love to try if they make a non-sweet version 👅
Overall, a comforting meal set for a...
Read moreAs a local frequenting for just over 6 months, I can easily say this is the BEST Korean restaurant in Melbourne. A must try restaurant that has:
✅ A well rounded menu where everything is incredibly delicious ✅ A nice homely vibe and dishes that feel like a home cooked meal rather than eating out ✅ Incredibly kind owners and staff who are very attentive ✅ The best sesame latte and yuzu lemonade I've ever had (all made in house)
A few favourites:
🍗🍗🍗 The chicken katsu set 🍗🍗🍗 Not pictured, because I always finish eating it before I remember to take a photo 🤣 the chicken katsu is nice and crispy, and the sauce is one of my all time favourites, like a more meaty and umami version of Japanese curry sauce.
🥩🥩🥩 The kbbq 🥩🥩🥩 They only just started offering it, and the meat quality is incredible without leaving that heavy feeling you get after bbq. Each serving is more than enough for one person, the mushrooms in particular are delicious.
🍲🍲 The beef soup sets: 🍲🍲 Are just the right amount of umami and slightly sweet (depending on which you order), with tender beef and a variety of...
