Huh. Curious. I don’t see anywhere where I accused you of using expired milk. All I said was the milk was out (on the counter) for quite sometime.

That’s interesting. Not only did you misinterpret and in turn accuse me of saying something I did not, it also seems like as a business, you’re not quite ready to fully acknowledge the problem. It’s almost as if the focus shifted from the quality of the food to my complaint—something to think about. Businesses usually do well when they own up to their shortcomings.

Regarding your claims about providing contact information, I’ve attached some photos that clearly show your website isn’t quite working as it should. Goggle messaging button is nowhere to be found, and oddly enough, there’s no phone number listed for direct communication either.

Perhaps a little fact-checking would be in order before making assumptions next time.

————————————————————————

Replying to the owner: First, I find it a bit unusual that I’m expected to return to the premises to inform about the matter since its a takeaway. It would seem more efficient to provide a way for customers to address issues remotely, particularly when the concern is something like the quality of food or drink. I tried looking for google message or even an email but there was none and the only option was to leave a review. Surely you didn’t expect a high rating when I’m writing about a complaint?

Regarding the latte I ordered, regardless if the milk may be better for me in some ways, curds are not something one would expect to encounter in a latte. If this is a common occurrence, perhaps it’s something that could be addressed to avoid customer confusion or disappointment.

Lastly, given the recent warm weather, I’m concerned that the ham and cheese croissants may have spoiled more quickly than usual, especially since they are displayed without any cooling. I’m not sure what time the croissants were delivered, or what time the other customer ordered the same thing, I am only referring to the one I ordered. With the temperature being quite high recently I would suggest considering a way to keep such items chilled to ensure food safety and maintain quality.

Please don’t use the ‘small business’ label to dismiss or downplay complaints or reviews. A business is a business no matter the size. If leaving negative feedback is seen as not helpful to small businesses, perhaps it would be better to disable all reviews or comments altogether.

Went to get an iced skinny latte and a ham and cheese croissant this morning. Halfway through the croissant I realised it was sour. Thought it was the mustard so i had the ham and cheese separately, turns out it was the ham. The croissant was also on the stale side.

Last few sips of the coffee and swallowed something soft. Turns out it was curds…. Doesn’t that mean the milk was out for quite sometime already?

How can these be served… should’ve taken a photo of the croissant as well before throwing it...

IN-HOUSE ROASTED COFFEE BEANS ; BAKED GOODS ROTATED EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS

We visited today only to be informed that it was their sixth day since opening their doors ... and they already get it right.

Ordered a magic and sat down inside; cosy, simple, clean and inviting décor.

Magic was made to perfection - double ristretto and 3/4 full - exactly as this Melbourne invention should be. I was baffled to see how some (hint hint) would criticise a new café for a coffee that they clearly have no idea what it is.

Coffee was so good that I had to try another; and so I had a Long Black - non acidic and nicely aromatic, clean, crisp.

At that point, the pastries were delivered - and of course did not pass on the flaky, buttery blueberry Danish that was staring at me. It was divine.

Very chatty and welcoming staff; quick convo and I discovered that they roast their own coffee so it's very unique and they intend to rotate the pastries every so often so you will never get bored of the offerings.

Definitely worth a quick visit; it is conveniently situated in a pocket of the CBD on A'Beckett that is not serviced by good cafes -...

I came here on 25 October 2024 and purchased a large oat latte from a lady with blonde-dyed hair. It was about 1:50pm and the line was relatively short (about 4 people in front of me). I waited outside for about 8 to 10minutes. Two of the staff’s friends attended the shop with their dog. The entire staff got distracted and forgot my order. 4 people got served in that time. INCLUDING THEIR FRIENDS WHO CAME AFTER ME. I was upset. At 2pm, I asked to check my order as I had to return for a meeting. A lady with heavy eyeliner said it was on the way. 2 more people got served after me. I asked if they even started on it yet, and the lady with heavy eyeliner said ‘it got lost’. I asked for a refund, or a cookie: anything, just something that I could leave the cafe with. The staff did not give me anything and told me to come back later.

Very disappointed. You literally took my order, made me pay, served all your friends before me, and didn’t even end up starting on my order. I get that they are your friends and they have a cute dog, but I’m a paying customer who came first. I’d expect some sort of...

Finally, I made it to OKO CAFÉ in the Melbourne CBD, where I even had the chance to talk to Danny, the owner. I enjoyed a tasty espresso shot from Colombia with a chocolate croissant. That was a great combination of a fruit bomb coffee with traditional, authentic chocolate pastry. Afterwards I went for a very special treat: a washed geisha from Panama – very clean, crisp, and super floral. It was interesting to see, that Danny was using an automated pour over dripper: the iDRIP from Taiwan. Automation is gaining in importance, especially as we are facing a major shortage of skilled baristas in Melbourne currently. But a machine cannot replace the smile and the interaction of a barista. I enjoyed the two coffees, the croissant, and the great chat! THANKS A LOT, and see you soon.

I’ve seen OKO Cafe everywhere as one of THE places to get a good matcha. So, I finally tried it with my friend. We got the Iced Matcha ($7) and Iced Houjicha ($7). The matcha was super creamy and had a thicker consistency which is similar to Naau’s matcha. I quite like that it was creamy and had a strong flavour. However, the matcha was not as strong as what I would’ve liked it to be. The houjicha was light but also creamy. The houjicha flavour was much lighter and would be suitable for people who want to try houjicha but would like to have a less strong version. I really liked the flavour and consistency of the matcha here, it is also not as expensive as other places, but the cups are a little small. Rating: 8/10
