Pakenham Fish & Chips — Restaurant in Melbourne

I'm going to start with the positive. The fish and chips here were fantastic one of the best in Pakenham. Surprised I haven't been here sooner in the 4 years I've lived here. They were pushing orders out in approx 20 minutes for walk-ins.

This was the first time going here and I did a walk in order. I was served second and 4 customers after me all left before me. They had given my order to someone else by mistake. They were very apologetic and gave me a free bottle of drink. This doesn't make up for the 45 minute wait for me but I'm just going to put it down to an off night. People make Mistakes and the quality of the fish and chips more than made up for it.

I will be back. STR8 was my go to but since the management change I've been bouncing around to try all shops around Pakenham as STR8 have...

Nice people, great service but horrible old oil used in the deep fryers. It's so stale the chips smell really bad and the oil clearly overpowers the taste of fresh potato chips... Need to change your fryer oils more often and back down on those chemical cleaning if you'll even clean the fryers. The food reeks of bad oil and chemicals.

A day after eating here and I'm still getting the after taste of the bad oil in my mouth.

I don't see this at hungry jacks or other outlets..even ripper kebabs oils taste fresher..this is purely stale oil reused so many times I think it's toxic by now. Two of my family members had an upset stomach too, although I didn't.

I'd rate then negative if I could I'd give it a -5 for food and quality

I think a food and hygiene inspector need to check...

Okay, we honestly thought this place would have been nice being in a small town. But, when the people work there weren't using gloves battering the fish and placing them in the frier, alarm bells ringing, the folks that came with us decided not to get any. And true to their judgement, our fish were not fully cook, they were leathery and were still pinkish and slippery. The hot chips barely rate a pass. Would not recommend until they address...
