26/12/22 - this restuarant is operating under FIVE identities now on uber eats. 1) Gourmet No. 1 2) Chinese on Main Street 3) Taste of Asia 4) Steam'd (Pakenham) 5) Noodle Hut ‐------‐-----END UPDATE --------- Before I proceed with this review, please know that I contacted the restaurant and voiced my concerns regarding my order prior to leaving this review. I was told by the girl that answered the phone, that if she received bad food, she would leave a bad review. So, here it is: They operate under 'Gourmet No. 1 Chinese Restaurant' AND 'Chinese on Main Street' through UberEats. I ordered via UberEats using 'Chinese on Main Street' as I did not want to order food from Gourmet No.1. Ordered San Choi Bow with chicken. Mix was made with frozen diced mixed vegetables (peas, corn, carrots & perhaps cauliflower?), there were approx. 3 little pieces of chicken (not a mince). Sauce was overpowering (I love salt but even I had issues with this). Heavy soy taste with oyster sauce I think. On a positive note, the Cos lettuce leaves were fresh. Pic attached of contents of San Choi Bow - sorry no chicken pieces as there were only 3. Ordered Combination mixed meat/seafood and veg. Extremely large amount of celery chunks. One prawn (household fight is on!) Sauce was pretty much the same as the San Choi Bow. I'm so grateful I ordered the steamed rice (which was OK) because I wouldn't have been able to eat the combo on it's own. It was extremely salty. Pic attached. I look forward to splurging on Chinese once in a while and was really disappointed - so much so, I've sat down to write a review! If your looking for beautiful, flavorsome, balanced chinese food, this is unfortunately not the answer.

Quality of food is terrible. Ordered from uber eat 2 dishes and a soup and the sesame prawn. Worst Chinese take away I had. First things first.... everything taste super salty. Broccoli is old and hard.... ie chewy. Added tofu.... no tofu. Ordered kung pao chicken.... tastes like soy sauce chicken..... no Szechuan taste or spice in it at all. Not even a hint of spice. Terrible. Looked totally different than what is advertised or everywhere else I had ate this. Why is it soaked in sauce....??? Looked and tastes more like stir-fry vegie with chicken. By the way... we found half a dried Chili in the whe dish.... yes I said half. Ordered my chicken shark fin soup.... taste like drinking soy sauce..... my God.... seriously.... Lastly the sesame prawn toast.... feels like biting on salty toast... We tried to force it in and tried to eat it.... but. Sorry... I don't want to have a heart attack. Last photo is the food that is going to be wasted. Hope they can put some care and love into cooking the food. This is really disappointing. After all this constructive review from so many customers feedback, do anyone or the owner actually doing anything to make it better. I added a photo from their site... kung pao chicken.... and compare it to what I was given.... speechless...

If I could give minus 100 stars I would.

This place is disgusting in food, customer service management, and the premise itself.

The food I recieved was NOT what I ordered and they forgot items. They would not refund anything at all. Nor would they discuss anything. They also trade as mango Thai. Which is pathetic. I ordered chicken massaman curry. On the menu it states the typical ingredients that are in a massaman curry potato peanuts onion amd so on. What I actually got was a watery flavourless, mess with NO potato, onion, peanuts or anything of a massaman curry. The tom yum soup made me sick, whatever they used it was not fresh ingredients. And again did NOT taste like any tom yum soup I have ever had. The management are appalling. They are happy to put a price on thwir food and make you pay it, but when they don't follow through with what they advertise it is absolutely disgusting for a business. They only care about thing money that's it. Not to mention allele of the disgusting things I have seen at this restaurant I don't even know how thos is still still operating business..... I have reported this establishment to the appropriate council authorities and the government food safety unit. When you can't operate a safe business with reasonable standards of customer service or provide a product that you advertise. You will be reported until appropriate action is taken to get your business up to basic standards.

Summary: DO NOT GO TO...

RUBBISH!!! - Ordered a take-away sweet and sour pork with a small steamed rice. It took 30 mins to receive my order and there were only 10 people dining-in, so it certainly wasn't busy for Saturday evening. The rice was just a gluey, gooey mess and the sweet and sour pork batter tasted of stale oil as I don't think it had been drained and was also very soggy. If I didn't live a fair distance from this restaurant I would have taken it back and demanded a refund. I wonder what is happening to service and quality nowadays as it seems to be getting harder and harder to find food which is still just fair value for money!!! - I will NOT be returning, unless you tell me I'm "Just the dark grey in the crayon box" as you have with some of the other reviews, and then I will definitely return and it won't be pretty. As a business owner myself with almost 400 x 5* reviews I can tell you that the quickest way for you to lose more potential customers is to berate them when they attempt to give you honest feedback. Reviews can be a very positive way for any business to try to improve it's business and products but undoubtedly someone with a dark grey attitude such as yours will never understand that point and you will probably destroy your business through sheer ignorance. I eagerly await your...
