da bruno in Richmond is the best pizza I have ever eaten, no lie

the interior is stunning - smooth concrete and high ceilings, quite contrasting the classic warm, timber trattorias. as gorgeous as the inside is, the sunny day called for lunch on the rooftop. mildly busy midday saturday, we were lucky to catch a shady table on the roof. their drinks menu has something for everyone thats bound to quench your thirst. the ‘sunflower’ cocktail was lemony, strong and tasted even better than it looked. the menu utilises classic italian ingredients, done really well and simply. no unnecessary elements. less certainly was more here. we absolutely loved everything. maybe it was the immense hunger the sun brings on, but we licked our plates clean. their marg was nothing but boring. sweet tomato sugo, oozy mozzarella on a thin and soggy base (in the best way). so good. whitebait was quite fleshly and loved the thin battering. the veal, which was literally bigger than my head LOL, was also great. on the bone, thin and tender yet EXTRA crispy breading. this was a little overly salted for me but the rocket salad help cut through. the rocket sauce also made the perfect crust dipper. i can’t wait to return and try more of their menu! i’m imagining a summers night with gin martini in my hand and margherita in my mouth!

Pizzeria Da Bruno is an upscale Italian restaurant spread over 4 levels. There's a basement and rooftop level along with a mezzanine level overlooking the main ground floor too. The fitout is simple but stylish and good for a catch up with friends or an intimate date night too. Staff here are friendly and accommodating, I asked for a kids serve of their Bolognaise as they don't have a kids menu and they were happy to help and even offer a pasta change too. The pizzas here are the highlight! Light and thin bases but bursting with flavour. Good drinks, with a range of beers, wine and cocktails list as well. This is not a cheap restaurant but it has a great vibe and good quality. Worth a visit

I visited Da Bruno with a group of friends for a birthday dinner, I was amazed by the food but absolutely appalled by the service.

I ordered my pasta along with the rest of my friends, only to not receive my food when everyone else's arrived. After 10 minutes I asked our server where my meal was and she said she would check, after another 10 minutes I asked a different server the same question and he said he would check, after another 10 minutes our female server returned and asked if we had ordered another one of the pastas. I explained that I had ordered it when everyone else at the table had ordered and she said nothing and stormed off. Roughly 30 minutes later all of my friends had finished their food and I still had not received mine, I approached the female server at the register who shoved her hand in my face and said 'wait' before I had even began talking. After she was finally ready to speak to me, indicated by a roll of the eyes and a 'yes?', I asked her to cancel my meal as all of my friends had eaten and wanted to leave. She then glanced over to the server who was FINALLY, after over an hour, delivering my food, and looked back at me and said 'he's bringing it over now'. The male server who delivered my food was apologetic and kind, but the female server was relentlessly rude and unapologetic. After all of that I was still charged full price for my meal.

This was by far the most disgusting customer service I have ever received in my life, I have worked in the food industry and retail for 5+ years so I am usually extremely patient and understanding, but this was appalling. I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere of the restaurant, but this experience has caused me to never want me to return...

Went here for a friends 21st birthday, but the night became memorable for all the wrong reasons.

We were a group of 7 of us, and so we were prepared to wait a little long for all our food and drink, but not as long as we had to. Our first issue was that we all ordered and received our drinks, except one of them. We had to ask 5 different staff and wait an additional 30 minutes for a glass of coke. The same problem occurred with a meal we ordered. One of the meals didn't arrive with the rest of the food, and so we had to ask 6 times about this meal, before it arrived a whole HOUR after the rest of the food. Not to mention, the lady who took our order was entirely unapologetic about the situation, and was rather rude to us, telling us to 'shush' and holding her hand up to the face of one of our friends to make her wait, when she was approached by the register. Furthermore, the patrons sitting next to us were loudly making fun of us for taking pictures of our dinner and drinks, which made us feel really uncomfortable as we were enjoying celebrating our friends birthday.

We were really disappointed in the service and the atmosphere, as the food was incredible, but the rest really ruined the...
