I ordered two pizzas tonight for takeaway and though they looked a bit sparse (Amatriciana for me and a Margherita with prosciutto for my children) they were tasty and well cooked. The bases were thin, crispy and structured like a bread, not at all soggy. They seemed very fresh and traditional. I ate mine rolled up so you get a bite of the crust and the other pieces of pizza all at the same time. See photos. The price was fairly high. $47 for two large pizzas (no other options available - no small etc - either except "kids" which was 4x slices at approx $12+) My eldest rated it a 2 out of 5 stars. She loves proiscuitto but said the pizza tasted "weird", however both kids polished off 3 pieces of pizza to themselves without complaint and ate all the way to the very last morsel of crust (you know how kids won't eat crust.. they left a smithereen of it compared to other pizzas) but still could have done with a little more. They were still a bit hungry after but weren't keen on trying my pizza. Pizza is a "poor man's" food and to buy a large size that can't fill two kids up just doesn't seem right. Even in Italy it is a street food and I feel the pricing here is too much. I'd likely have bought more if it weren't for the almost $50 the two pizzas cost me. I was worried my kids wouldn't like "Roman" style pizza but they did. It can be hard to balance options that both me and the kids want to eat (simplistic for them and something different for me) from the same restaurant. They are used to the usual pizza places with lots of shredded ham and cheese. I came here due to the great reviews and I believe the food quality is worth the stars. Good wait time for food to be cooked (7pm on a Thursday night) however the service was a little stiff. I didn't feel particularly comfortable while I waited in store with my kids. I'm not sure I'd feel welcomed dining in with my kids alone but I could see this as a place to eat with family/friends and to even add a few drinks as there was liquor available, and cocktails. There was dessert options also which looked good in the reviews! I think I will try the pizzas here again in future. Photos of my pizza (Amatriciana) and what's left of the...
Read moreThe pizza here is fantastic — authentic, flavourful, and consistently great. We’ve been loyal customers and love the food every time. However, the service really doesn't match the quality of the pizza. The front desk lady has a consistently rude and impatient attitude, especially towards kids. While we’ve managed to overlook her bad manner in the past for the sake of the food, it’s become hard to ignore lately.
It’s disappointing to see so many negative reviews pointing to her, and it’s even sadder that the restaurant doesn’t seem to address it or care about losing customers because of it. That being said, the staff in the back are always friendly, which makes the experience a bit better, but the front desk definitely needs attention.
If the service improves, this place could easily be five stars, but until then, it’s hard to keep coming back when the front desk treatment is...
Read moreOur visit to Pizzeria Romana in Nunawading was nothing short of appalling. Upon entering, we were met with an unfriendly reception. After being seated, we attempted to place our order, but the staff's demeanor was dismissive and unwelcoming.
The situation escalated when we were informed that ordering only two pizzas for our party of four was unacceptable. Rather than offering a solution or understanding, the staff insisted we order more or leave. Feeling unwelcome and disrespected, we chose to leave before even tasting the food.
It's unfortunate, as the restaurant's reputation for authentic Roman-style pizzas had led us to expect a pleasant dining experience. However, the appalling service overshadowed any potential enjoyment.
We will not be returning and advise others to consider the service quality...
