Always been happy eating in this place . Its a dumpling house but the dumplings have never been that good that i would drive past another dumpling place for them but their other dishes have always been nice and pretty good value. But tonight i ordered a braised pork belly dish with vegetables off the specials list . It came out swimming in a thick black sauce that really worried me but i didn't have to worry, as to be honest it was tasteless. The dozen pieces of pork belly were nothing but fat and skin and i did attempt to pull off what meat was there but it just had no flavour at all. The vegetables were bok choi only placed around the bowl, more as a decoration not really part of a braise. While I got up and paid, the waiter cleared my plate and knew something was wrong because he took it to the boss . He was ushered away and the boss thanked me . Shame, i really liked the place. But there are just to many around to risk having another bad meal. Still hungry i went across the road and got a 1/4 chicken and chips. Chips were ok but the chicken was dry and tasteless. All up $35 and still hungry. Side note not a good look that the chef stands out front to have a smoke and flicks it...
Read moreHad a mildly bad experience here. I ordered a dish in the 'Vegetarian' section of the menu which ended up having pork in it, when I assumed it would have been a meat substitute like in other restaurants. When the food came out he didn't offer to let me reorder and had the attitude that the error was mine. I ended up having to pick all of the meat out of the dish. Later on when paying he was very apologetic after it was realised the error was theirs. Apart from that the food tasted good. Just bad service and given the evil eye from a second staff member when we were photographing the menu LOL. Should have let me order something else. They waived the surcharge as an apology but I feel the contrition was not sincere.
He said, "Online, the wording has been corrected". Which is true. On their website, this same section is titled 'Vegetables'. So they've got the terms 'Vegetables' and 'Vegetarian' mixed up, when their meanings are very different.
'Vegetables' can mean the dish includes vegetables but can also have other ingredients such as meat etc.
'Vegetarian' means strictly no meat what-so-ever,...
Read moreBeen at this place twice, remember the phrase you really get what you pay....for? This rule applies here, poor quality food and lots of food additives and enhancing agents used...as someone who is extremely sensitive to additives I get a reaction within minutes of consuming them in food. My friends dragged me twice in there and both times I had adverse reaction as well as stomach aches..... The staff at this place are so busy they often ignore waiting people.... The owner who is always at register is the most unfriendly person I have ever met. She doesn't seem to know how to smile...she must train her staff in the same manner, as most of them also don't seem to possess any social decorum. I guess their main focus is just money first.... I used to love the Thai restaurant few doors down, much dearer but great quality food now closed down...
