My visit to the Russian (international) Rasputin restaurant in Melbourne was shocking, and I feel compelled to express my profound dissatisfaction. Despite the seemingly positive note of an abundance of food (most of which was really nice) the abysmal customer service provided has overshadowed all that. What happened, will you ask? When my husband and I decided to leave early, and the owner refused to let us just pay for ourselves. This simple request escalated into him being very rude to us for no reason whatsoever, and to add insult to injury, while my husband left to retrieve his credit card to finally be able to pay for us and leave, the owner was aggressively shaking his hands in front of my face when I was just standing at the bar waiting.
I am appalled by this display of utter disrespect and lack of professionalism. It's inconceivable that such behavior is tolerated in a dining establishment. The owner's archaic USSR era mentality and complete disregard for customer satisfaction make me question why this restaurant is operating in a customer service space. This is not just bad service; it's a disgrace.
To anyone considering dining at this establishment, beware: the food may be plentiful, but the owner's conduct overshadows any culinary merits. Save yourself the anguish and choose a place where customers are treated with the dignity they deserve. I, for one, will never subject myself to such a degrading experience again (and almost forgot, the music is...
Read moreFor $85 per head, this was extremely underwhelming. The food was nowhere near that worth. There was zero interaction with staff, no one to check in, or to greet us to the table. Just waiters dropping off plates of food here and there. The band was lively, and the crowd was also lively which helped add to the atmosphere and vibe. It is mainly an older crowd, so the music is catered to older generations. I feel for that money, there should have been more to it, at least some desert instead of a single platter of thinly sliced watermelon and orange. Either way, it was an interesting experience that reminded me of being in...
Read moreWas expecting a mediocre Russian cuisine, but the food was great and I very much enjoyed the banquet. The highlights were stuffed fish, salads, creamy prawns on rice. The cutlery though made me cringe as it looked and felt flimsy, fork bent at a slight pressure. Overall feeling of the tableware that is was rescued from an oppshop. The smoke machine on the dance floor made a few guests uncomfortable with cough. Overall great place to experience...
