I have been going to Sugo for over a decade and have really enjoyed it over the years. The calamari salad was my favourite! Last Saturday, I went for a late lunch with a couple of girlfriends. The waitress was polite & friendly and took our order. We ordered the pumpkin pizza and realised after eating a piece that we received a Margarita instead. I promptly called the head waiter (tall balding man with lots of dark facial hair) over and told him we received the wrong order. He didn’t apologise or offer to make us a new pizza. He simply went away, came back 2 minutes later advising us that the order in the kitchen was for a Margarita. We replied that the waitress must have made an error because we all clearly heard the order being made. He shrugged, asked if we wanted anything else & then walked away. My friends and I thought we’d ignore his rudeness and continue to enjoy our time together. When the bill came, he charged us full price for the order. I called him over again and told him how disappointed we were. Not only did he offer no apology but he hadn’t even discounted the pizza on the bill. He had no words in reply, other than to say that he HAD apologised. My girlfriends piped up and confirmed that he absolutely didn’t. He stared at me rudely without comment. I told him that if I was the owner of the business, I would try to rectify their mistake to keep the patrons smiling. He then rolled his eyes and stormed off. He returned a minute later with a receipt that now included a $3 discount. He practically threw the bill at me! We decided to pay & get out as quickly as possible as we were feeling serious bad vibes! I am appalled at this man’s apathetic attitude & direct rudeness. There is no excuse for his behaviour. Unfortunately, I won’t be stepping foot into this restaurant again, at least until I know he is no longer...
Read moreWas looking forward for tonight's dinner but unfortunately the night turned sour, when after ordering entrees and wine and ordering mains and telling the waitresses that we wanted a break before our mains were brought out. Our entrees came out at a reasonable time, but midway through our entrees our mains were also brought out,my daughter explained to one of the waitresses that we asked the original waitress that we asked for a breather, she took it back to the kitchen, the original waitress then came to our table and asked us if we were ready for a our mains, not even two minutes later! Tas was one of the male waiters who then came to our table and said that they had issues with their three chefs and wasn't sure what they were doing in the kitchen . The mains came out reheated either in the microwave or oven, you could tell by cream and sauces were dried out, wasn't freshly made, the waitresses avoided us for the rest of the night didn't come up to us to at least re fill our glasses with water or ask us if we wanted desert or coffee,so I got the jest that was our cue to pay and leave. After voicing to Tas how the night went we left really disappointed with the experience with the reheated food and poor service,once...
Read moreWe came as a group of eight and, unfortunately, the service really let the night down. When the waitress came to confirm our order, she only asked one person at the table to repeat it. When I mentioned that this person couldn’t possibly know what everyone else ordered, she just kept repeating the same list instead of checking with the rest of us. It felt a bit careless. Then, before we’d even received all our entrees, the waitress came back asking if we wanted the mains brought out because “they were ready.” The table was already full, and we hadn’t even finished the starters yet, so that made the meal feel rushed. As for the food — presentation was beautiful, especially the duck dish with the smoky effect — but the flavour didn’t live up to the look. The “special duck in pastry” wasn’t a whole piece of duck as we expected; it was more like shredded duck mixed with other ingredients, and by the time it reached the table, it was already lukewarm. The calamari was okay, just a bit plain and could’ve used...
