My visit to Ratio Cocoa Roasters in Melbourne, Australia, back in March was an experience that Iāve been eager to share but havenāt had the chance to until now. As a high-tech marketing professional, I was in Melbourne on vacation when I discovered Ratio through a delightful gift from my hotel. They were gifting Ratio chocolate bars to their top status level guests, and it was love at first bite. The exquisite, fresh flavor of the chocolate bar was unlike anything I had ever tasted, which drove me to book a chocolate-making tour advertised with the bar.
The chocolate-making tour at Ratio was an eye-opener and worth every minute spent. Before this tour, I had no idea how chocolate was made, nor did I realize the profound differences in flavor that cocoa beans can produce based on their region of origin. The tour was educational, revealing that the mass-produced chocolates we often consume may not be ethically farmed or cultivated. The staff at Ratio educated us about the state of the chocolate-making industry, the importance of ethically sourced beans, and the traditional methods they use to craft their chocolates. This tour is a must for anyone wanting to learn about chocolate from bean to bar.
Experiencing chocolate bars from different regions of the world at Ratio was a revelation. The pure, additive-free chocolate showcased the unique flavors of cocoa beans from various origins, something I had never encountered before. Ratio is a must-visit for anyone seeking a global chocolate experience. The taste journey they offer is phenomenal, and the purity of their products is unparalleled.
I deeply admire Ratioās commitment to ethical practices. They meticulously ensure that the beans they use are fairly traded and ethically farmed. This dedication to social responsibility is commendable and adds an extra layer of appreciation for their products.
My visit to Ratio has also ignited a personal passion for chocolate making, something I aspire to pursue during my retirement. If Ratio were ever to offer apprenticeship opportunities or investment options to open a branch elsewhere, I would eagerly embrace the chance to be part of such an inspiring and conscientious company.
In summary, my experience at Ratio Cocoa Roasters was exceptional, and this review is long overdue. I highly recommend their tour and products to anyone visiting Melbourne. The knowledge I gained and the exquisite chocolates I tasted made this an...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy wife and I drove past this chocolate cafe one late afternoon last week and decided to stop for a cuppa. We ordered our mochas and a tasting plate of brownies and my wife got up from the table to browse through the merchandise on the shelves. She brought a packet of hundreds&thousands for me to look at and said the grandkids would love it. So I got up to browse the shelves as well. Within moments the owner of the shop came to confront me, without even bothering to ask, that I shouldn't be opening the packets to eat the chocolates. I was absolutely dumbstruck for a moment since no such thing happened. And then the humiliation and anger took over. I told her I was seriously offended with the accusation when no such thing happened. We left the premises immediately. With anger simmering I called the cafe from the car and spoke with the owner. I asked for her name and she did not even have the courtesy to tell me her name. And protesting my treatment she said it was the student trainee's fault for the mistake. There was no hint of an apology.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI popped in to order a coffee and experienced the rudest person customer service, which based on previous reviews isnāt an isolated experience. I asked for a decaf coffee to which the staff member (the one who makes the food) replied I donāt have decaf here. I was quite embarrassed and still tried to be polite and respectful and bumbled out oh ok, no worries, but all I received was a deadpan face in return. To the owner, Iām a middle aged woman who has been drinking string (real) coffee since I was a child. Unfortunately due to medical reasons I no longer am able to have caffeine. Believe me it irritates me more than it does you. There is no need to be so damn rude and belittling. Isnāt Brunswick known for its inclusivity? Or is that not for...
