Tldr: the ramen is so rich in flavour and the croquettes here are so crispy. A nice restaurant with a long sharing table and separate tables. The friendliest staff and warm ambiance. The iced matcha latte with icecream was very refreshing. Not too sweet with a smoothie texture. Veggie croquette has a most perfect pocket with a crisp batter with mashed potato filling that was flavourful with some veggies. The sauce added a light tangy taste. The misoya special ramen is one of their signature ramens. Strong hearty broth with tender pork belly. Creamy chicken ramen has a thick flavourful broth which was full of collagen. The eggs were perfectly cooked and ramen noodles were the right texture and taste. The pork belly in both ramens were fatty in a good way and the meat was so tender it broth so easily. We ordered the ramen with additional corn which added a sweetness to the dish.

Ordered 2 x signature ramen, asked for spicy, was told spicy oil is $1. Also ordered the karaage entree. Received two of the wrong dish, sent back and had it fixed quickly. The karaage came out and was totally bland, the meat and the breading had nothing to it, not crispy whatsoever and no flavour, the lettuce was the only good thing about it… Go to pay, and see that the incorrect dishes were on my receipt, rectified this and then noticed we were charged $3 for each spicy oil which was quoted at $1… to remedy this the waitress removed 1 x spicy oil. Making it $3 instead of the initial $2 we were told before ordering… Unfortunately, the service, food and pricing was bad, and after visiting this place for many years I will be avoiding it in future. I literally could’ve made better packet noodles and chicken nuggets at home instead of paying $85 to be disappointed.

‘Every body loves Ramen’ Well, It was my fist time eating ramen, and all I could think was “Wow, I’ve been missing out’ The Misoya Special Ramen’s (Egg noodles in a chicken-based miso soup topped with soft boiled egg, spring onion, leek, wakame seaweed and slow-cooked pork belly) broth was thick and flavoursome, and steaming hot, which was perfect for this cold raining night in Melbourne. For our entree we shared the Tori Karate (Yuzu marinated deep fired chicken). The coating was soft, not to oily, and very tasty. Hubby and I loved the Soba (Chilled egg noodles tossed with miso-based sauce and salad), the noodles were packed with flavour, and the salad very fresh. Great portion sizes and very affordable prices, friendly service, and a quiet ‘relaxed atmosphere’ with some cool jazz tunes playing, added to a great night out.

I would to start this in a good note. The ramen is Japanese grade flavour.

The service is surprisingly poor from Japanese staff. We tried to order the ramen special but one of the staff unapologetically said they don’t serve it anymore which fine and we’re happy to get a normal ramen instead. One of our friend ordered Okonomiyaki and she was surprised that her Okonomiyaki doesn’t have any mayonaise we asked for kewpie mayonaise but the staff said it’s gonna cost us $3 for mayonaise and we said why is the photo from the digital menu has mayonaise and their response is because my friend ordered a vegetarian Okonomiyaki that’s why no mayo. And half way through her meal they offer if we want to get a non-vegetarian Okonomiyaki and we said no.

Here comes our ramen order, obviously the Japanese guy send it to wrong table and I hear the customer saying that’s not their order and they have to call the waiter. The guy took the order back to the kitchen and did a quick turn around in the kitchen to look like it’s a fresh ramen from the kitchen and bring the ramen to us.

I’m pretty disappointed with the service of their Japanese staff as I lived in Japan and always get good service. I guess the staff at Misoya Sake Bar need to focus or engage more with customer. (I know there might be a language barrier but with our experience they just chatting to each other and not attentive to...

Terrible customer service, we arrived and ordered a few starters plus a bowl of ramen.

After 25 minutes we still hadnt received our food, despite nervous people arriving after us and all tucking in to their food.

Our order had obviously been forgotten as 15 mins later our starters suddnely arrived and we were told that these starters take longer to cook despite some of the new arrivals eating the same starters that we had.

The staff members where hiding in the back trying to avoid us until I complained a 3rd time and the chef who spoke poor English came out and showed me a till recipt that he had just printed out which showed the same time as my watch. He then kept pointing at it saying 20 mins (it was in fact for one minute earlier) the original order was written on a piece of paper and the lady behind him had it in her hand.

I am unsure if he was telling me it's gonna be 20 mins or we had only ordered 20 mins ago as he was unable to speak english.

In short if you have 45 mins to wait for the food then please let me know what it was like as we ended up leaving.

Note to the staff if you lose an order or make a mistake then just be open and honest, we all understand that mistakes can happen. Don't try and cover up your mistakes and then bring out a chef who has no idea how to speak english to explain.

Terrible customer...

I'm a regular here for the stand-out Ramen (as per a previous review).

Thought we would report an unfortunate experience, for others to consider.

A few weeks back while dining in, a young man entered who purported to be the partner of a young women employee. He complained (quite forthrightly - causing a scene) that the older male manager had 'hit' his partner at the end of a shift for not having done something during the close.

I understood from what he was saying that that had led to her being distressed and not returning to work.

While we obviously had no idea about the context/allegation, the response from the older male manager was not to deny that it happened, but to say that he only hit her lightly ("Like this" - queue a 'light shoulder slap'). The partner was pretty irate/firm that this was wrong (obviously it is), that it was very distressing, and that it should never happen again, for which the manager apologised.

As such, we won't be going back here (however great the Ramen is, and how nice the staff are - which they are). We can't accept that that occurs, and that the distress/injury felt by the worker appeared real and significant. We recorded the interaction, in case it needs to...
