Decent Food, but a Few Misses

We recently ordered from Richmond Fish and Chips in Melbourne and had a mixed experience. My partner ordered the Fish Pack, which came with fish, a potato patty, a dim sim, and tartare sauce, while I ordered a veggie burger, large chips with gravy, and a can of Coke.

First, the positives: the veggie burger was delicious and definitely a highlight! However, there were a few disappointments. My large chips were missing from the order, though the gravy came separately (and unfortunately, it was just average—I wouldn’t recommend it). Also, the chips in my partner’s Fish Pack weren’t salted, which would have added to the flavor. My partner thought his meal was okay but nothing special.

🐟 On Good Friday, we opted for takeaway from Richmond Fish and Chips, and the bustling atmosphere was a promising sign. The menu offered a great range of classic fish and chip shop fare, meeting our expectations.

The service was efficient, and the food did not disappoint. The kids particularly enjoyed the banana and pineapple fritters, which added a sweet touch to our meal.

However, we did encounter a minor hiccup. Despite inquiring about tartare sauce and ordering an extra portion, it was unfortunately missing from our pack. Given the busy environment, we chose not to check the contents on-site to avoid holding up the queue.

Oh gosh, this place is one of those rare magical gems, that once you discover it, becomes a regular treat.

The first time I went was a friday I was surprised to see it packed, and with all hands on deck behind the counter. But even with so many people the food was freshly prepared in no time at all.
