Dear Ruby Modern Thai.
Simple question to anyone reading this:
Does $64.85 + 15%:
A: = $74.58 or B: = 81.42?
No complaints from me about the food.
And also, if you tell customers there's a 15% public holiday surcharge, I'm fine with that as well.
However, I was charged and initially paid $81.42.
Upon realising this, I went to dispute it and informed the male behind the counter that I had clearly been overcharged $6.85 . The overcharge might not be astronomical, but its the principle of the matter that counts.
So, what would a sane business operator do?
A: Apologise and reimburse my my $6.85 and be done with it.
Or
B: Dig their heels in by denying reality and falsely claiming that $64.85 + 15% equals $81.42 as a pathetic excuse to refuse to reimburse me my $6.85 and make a scene in the process.
The person behind the counter chose B and by doing so, he made a scene. It was only after raising my voice (which was clearly provoked by the arrogant man behind the counter who for a long time refused to budge even after I showed him the maths on my phone calculator) that I got my $6.85 back.

We couldn't believe how rude, disrespectful and childish so many of the other customers were behaving and speaking to wait staff. There was signs throughout the business stating they were understaffed and doing their best, yet other customers gave so much attitude to staff for wait times and orders etc. and carrying on for things ultimately they had no control over.
In particular to the younger man working on 04/11/24 doing his best with a smile on his face.
Partner & I enjoyed our time, the food was great and arrived quickly given the busy night. And staff were truly exceptional given the circumstances. I really hope they don't read too much into the entitled and arrogant customers that seemed to have really made it a plan to make their lives hell from our standpoint.

Read moreOh boy where to start. This was among worst restaurant experience I v had in a long time and myself and my family are avid travellers. Simply this restaurant establishment thinks it can get away with appalling practices just because they are on a Rye Beach and because there is no competition. In summary, they are cash only, no signs anywhere telling you this , you have to order from the front, after waiting for 20 minutes like idiots with "menu closed" I walked to the front to see what is happening...but waitresses or anyone dont tell you this like its normal, same thing with water if you dont ask you are not going to get it while we noticed some patrons were served water upon sitting down. Then once we ordered, we waited 1 hour for our food. I would give them 0 stars if I could. Disgusting and to make it worse food was bland with average...
