My colleague and I came here for our Christmas breakup 2022 and were gladly escorted to our table which in light of the date were fortunate enough to have made a reservation. Instantly it became clear that our dining experience would be very loud in close proximity to fellow diners. Nevertheless we were served in good time and the food came quickly. It was quality food. Portions were small so we had to order a few times over which was frustrating. The atmosphere was obviously very peaceful in light of the culture of Thailand bringing a relaxed and south eastern vibe to the night. Of the many places we frequented within the Yarraville vicinity this one was a bit more pricey. There are many options to choose from if such cuisine does not appeal to one's pallet. However this is a review for Smile Thai and the place delivers what it promises- a smiley service bringing modern south eastern cosine which caters for vegetarians alike. The house beer is Singha and there are cocktails available which can be ordered stand alone without a meal accompaniment. Amazing local Thai, great value and plentiful servings. Staff are always courteous and good ambience that can cater for a family or friends dinner or just for two. Full flavoured dishes reflective of authentic Thai. Peanut sauce with roti is perfect, Pad Thai is generous and the basil fried rice with prawns is a classic. Probably the best Thai I've had in the Moonee Valley area and I've tried many places. Only issue and it's the same issue with other restaurants is the sweetness. I don't know why they have to make the food so sweet as it's not authentic but I assume it's to make the food addictive and appealing to 'Aussies'. The flavours and consistency is right up there so they really don't need the intense sweetness. I won't order another curry here again because of it however the rest of the menu options I've tried...
