This place was the worst dinning experience ever. The restaurant was freezing. Everytime someone entered an icy wind blew through. People were having to eat with their coats on. The food was terrible. Big bowls of creamy sauce with 2 or 3 small bits of meat or fish. We had 3 mains all 3 tasted the same. Tasteless cream. The table was so small they had to shuffle things around to fit the plates on. Things were so tight that customers were knocking things off our table into our meals as they tried to squeeze buy such as the little lamp which ended up covered in cream. They didn't change it just left it dripping on our table. They brought 2 mains but no rice which came 10 minutes later so the mains were cold. The food has nothing to do with Indian food. They try to pass it off as the same as uk Indian food. I am from the UK and believe me this food would not pass in uk. I can only assume that the positive co.ments on here are made up lies or they are from people who know nothing of Indian food. You can see on the photos here that it's bowls of sauce with next to nothing in it. I will never go back and would not recommend it to my worst enemies. Our taxi driver home was from India and when we told him we ate there he burst...
Read moreI don’t usually leave reviews. I just return to good restaurants & never go back to bad ones. It’s difficult to tell restaurant staff about your bad experience in the moment, hopefully this can be taken constructively so that improvements can be made to your service. Food wise, the mango lassies, butter chicken, naan & potato fritters were yum. The beef skewers were underwhelming - processed meat, more like beef sausages. Not value for money & small portion sizes. Our main issue was with the service. It was certainly prompt, we got our plates & cutlery cleared 3 times which was a bit much. However, one of my pet peeves of a restaurant is when staff want to clear your plates before you’ve finished. Don’t know why the rush, the place was empty apart from another couple. The worst part was that a staff member made a comment about having only ordered one main to share, which made us feel unwelcome. In the end we were glad to be rushed because we couldn’t get out of there fast enough! Food was good but service left a bitter taste. There’s a lot to be said for good...
Read moreI really enjoyed my visit here to Southall. I'd heard about it from various people and love trying new (to me) Indian restaurants, so I found myself coming here not long ago when the craving hit.
It's small inside, and I imagine when full, it could get quite loud. The tables are tiny and that gets awkward and cramped when placing everything down on the table during the meal.
The food came out in a timely manner, and it was really delicious. They are the ex owners of Bombay By Night, and the food is as equally good now as it was then in their former restaurant. We ordered Butter Chicken, rice and garlic naan. I know it's hard to go wrong with the basics, any they didn't prove me wrong. The food was great and though the service is spotty (the older gentleman who works there is a bit curt/rude at times), it's really worth a visit.
I found Southall to be good value, and parking isn't too difficult and may become a regular to me I'm sure. I would recommend coming here for sure, as you're bound to get a great meal in a nice casual...
