Located in Carlton right near Melbourne Uni is this gorgeous cafe! I have been here years ago and absolutely loved it and I can say that it has not changed one bit in terms of the quality of food and the incredible service 🤍
We had: 🥑 Avocado Bruschetta 🍳 Spanish Omelette 🥞 Blueberry and banana hotcakes
Our fave was defs the smashed avo- I have not had a smashed avo this good in such a long time! I loved all the elements of the dish, the avo was generous, the brocollini was perfectly charred and delicious, a good amount of feta and the acidity of the tomatoes helped to balance this all out- honestly YUM! The Spanish omelette came out completely different to how I imagined. It was thick, fluffy and full of potato and chorizo, so delicious! A very filling dish. The only thing I would have loved to have seen is the chorizo to be on the spicier side to give the dish that extra elevation in flavour! I loved the addition of the sourdough! The banana and blueberry hotcakes were the perfect finisher. Drowned in maple syrup, these were divine! I wasn’t expecting the hotcakes to have blueberries in them and they were jam packed and absolutely divine! The addition of granola clusters was perfect for texture and the mascarpone on top helped to balance out the sweetness of the dish. A definite reorder when I revisit 🥰
We felt so welcomed to this homey, cozy cafe! We could not praise the service more. Each staff member was so friendly and made us feel right at home 🏡

Read moreI love this place. Amazing coffee, great food. I've been there several times for food and I've had: sweetcorn fritters (quite filling, and would recommend with bacon) tacos (lighter. the chicken and guacamole are amazing, and they have fresh pico de gaio) calamari (best calamari i've ever had. I don't like seafood, but this is the only calamari I'll eat) avocado bruschetta (great bread, good serving of avocado and not stingy. Served with a poached egg that is runny and very good, also with some tomato and feta. Good, light meal) coconut bircher (surprisingly very filling. It has fresh lychees, raspberries, strawberries and blueberries. The coconut yogurt they put on top is great. Maple syrup coats the thing, so if you have a sweet tooth, this hits the spot) granola slice (great, surprisingly softer than I thought it'd be) lemon and coconut slice (my favourite dessert from there. Very sweet, but absolutely a go to if i want to treat myself) croissant (good croissant)
Service is great, and they have regulars which the waiters know the orders of. Is a family run business and...
Read moreI walked down this street at 2pm on a weekday expecting a 'meh' industrial experience, or a student-infested cafe. I received neither, being pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere of Stovetop, a hidden gem that takes on the incredible flavors of coffee and food totally unique to the region.
The stovetop house pour is $10 for 4 cups, making it a great budget experience to take your friends for good coffee, and they only do their espressos in single origin. The menu is extensive, I tried the New York Reuben with a double espresso (the single origin this week is 5 Senses, hats off to them) and was not disappointed, great portions and great flavors.
The staff too are extremely welcoming, they do really well with families and make sure that everybody is taken care of. With 'The Scientist' by Coldplay playing softly in the background, gentle aromas of coffee drifting through the modern light wood finished cafe, my plate long cleared and my empty cup sitting satisfyingly on the table, I can say that I've truly found a place that I will return to...
