Strange place.
Food were abundant of korean and chinese choices (not so much japanese i wd say), long-life and fresh ones, have to say the prices were really, really cheap. This made them competitive among so many asian grocery retailers in melbourne.
But the environment was weird. Patriarchal, and basically everyone was indifferent. The staff haven’t said any humiliating words yet but you can feel it, and the whole store was pretty cold and not welcoming.
Their customers were rude. I don’t know “rude customers” were the reasons i rate low at a google map spot until i went ktmart.
A middle-aged korean male with his wife jumped in the queue just before me basically using his fulled trolley to squeeze me out. They were yelling in korean so i am not sure whether they could speak English, or they could just pretend they can’t, to cut me from communicating. How rude. And they took it for granted. They don’t shame.
Another middle-aged white couples stopped in the middle of an aisle and picking their stuff from the column. Narrow aisles, which means if they stopped there, others just can’t go by. Woolies and coles have obvi wider aisles and customers they really carefully observing passersby (most of times) when choosing their own, to make sure they were not stopping others’ freedom to walk across. So I waited them to move and finally I said “sorry” to that couple to remind them they were in my way. And they were shocked, turned around and look at me, and moved back a little bit. Yeah that’s the fact that they were shocked. That’s strange, normal people don’t shock by others at grocery stores.
That’s really tough to buying things from ktmart. And those toughness just shouldn’t exist if the system were working right. It was really hard to choose—torture from the bad shopping experiences, or fulfil the desire to buy those unique and competitive asian imports (those authentic flavours don’t show up even when u physically in asian countries).
Customers services were not pretty bad. However the overall what I saw is patriarchal, weird and irregular. Not typically “asian bullying asians” but its not better...

I’m asking Kt Mart . must match display price and barcode price. It’s happen so many times already . I have been regular customer nearly 8 years. I recently noticed that they are doing dodgy way to charge to customer extra $$.
In this pandemic time?do you really have to do this ???
Display Price tag is not match when you pay. (Some of products )
They are telling me “When we scan the barcode it’s right price. So you have to pay for it. Not as display price”

@ALWAYS ASK FOR YOUR RECEIPT AND DOUBLE THE LIST!!!
@Be careful the price advertise on the shelves is not the same when you pay at the counter. And they are not willing to do something about it once you already paid.
@The check list found that the Yakult I bought was scanned twice and charged...
Read moreI like going to KT MART even though I live far away. But as it gets more popular, the service quality decreases. Especially today, I felt uncomfortable to stay and shop. I visited around 3pm. It seemed like stocking period. The staff were busy opening boxes and moving around. But they were quite rude to just walk straight to me and demand that we move or had no courtesy to say 'excuse me'. As we walk into the shop, we were chased by manager and she overtook us aggressively and a male staff looked at us walking in and proceeded walking towards us with an expectation that we move aside. This kind of behaviour lasted until we were leaving the shop and we were stopped by another male staff walking in as he saw us leaving expecting we step asides. It's not hard to pause for seconds to let customers leave or walk in. I get that they are busy trying to get things done but it doesn't take much to acknowledge that there are customers walking around as well. Showing some kindness or smile wouldn't hurt. KT MART has good products but doesn't have good service mindset. I hope everyone who works at KT MART understands the people come first before...
