Last night, I had a deeply disappointing and humiliating experience at this venue. As someone who has been on and off mobility aids since the age of 13, I was genuinely looking forward to an evening out with friends. After recently coming off crutches, I was excited to enjoy the night, particularly dancing with my friends. However, due to my inability to stand for extended periods, I needed some form of support to safely participate on the dance floor.
When I initially approached a security guard with a suggestion to use a stool or another solution that might make the dance floor accessible for me, I was met with a refusal. While the security guard’s response seemed influenced by the manager’s presence, I persisted in trying to find a solution. Left with no other option, I sat briefly on a table on the dance floor. I acknowledge this may not have been ideal, but it was my only alternative at the time.
After about 10 minutes, I was approached by another security guard and the manager, who told me I needed to get off the table. When I tried to explain my disability and the need for support, I felt unheard and dismissed. Their suggested solution was for me to sit in the designated seating area, which was far from the dance floor where my friends were. I explained that being segregated to another part of the venue due to my disability felt discriminatory and unfair. Despite my openness to any reasonable alternative, my concerns were dismissed, leaving me feeling excluded, unheard, and hurt.
Ultimately, I left the venue, feeling humiliated. After my friend consoled me and offered to sit in the seating area with me, I decided to try re-entering the venue. However, your manager refused me entry and instead left me waiting sitting on the street for 30 minutes until my friends came out.
This experience has left a lasting impact on me, as it felt both isolating and discriminatory. Public spaces should be accessible to everyone, and venues like yours have a responsibility to accommodate the needs of patrons with disabilities. This includes not only providing physical accessibility but also ensuring that staff approach such situations with empathy and a willingness to find solutions.
Due to this experience, I will not be returning to your venue and cannot recommend it to others. I urge you to take this feedback seriously and reflect on how similar situations could be handled differently in the future. Accessibility and respectful treatment should be fundamental principles, not optional...
Read moreI’m in two minds what to rate this pub. Grand final day, everything was going well until we had to order another round of drinks. Guy at the bar was extremely rude for absolute no reason and demanded to remove me from the premises. Reason is that I wanted to have drinks order for 12 people all on one invoice and he kept giving me few individual drinks at the time with no invoice…. Red Flag!!! I can only claim the total not dribs and drabs…. I have to praise security as extremely professional and they told me to go to another bar and order drinks but why would I have to do that…. Please note, we spent over 5k on drinks only plus food on another account! 8k plus+++
I must say, we will never EVER come back and message to management: Praise your sensible security and choose carefully bar staff!!!
Otherwise, awesome pub good energy shat bar dude!!!
Overall, EXTREMELY...
Read moreDisappointed with our visit We visited The Swan Hotel on Sunday before the footy, arriving at 5pm, well ahead of time for a quick meal and some drinks. Despite the venue being practically empty, we were told there would be a 90-minute wait for food.
We came specifically to eat before the game but ended up leaving hungry, as by the time we waited 20 minutes in line to order, we were then told about the delay, leaving us with no time to find food elsewhere.
As someone who works in a pub, I can confidently say that unless there was no chef on duty, there’s absolutely no reason three Parmas should take an hour and a half. Disappointing service and poor communication. I have come to this venue many times before and never had an issue however I can confidently say I won’t be returning...
