We arrived at the restaurant with high expectations looking at their reviews. There were two groups of six and two groups of four people. We asked for a table for two, got seated, and the waitress came to take our order in around five minutes. We ordered 1 Chatpate, 2 Sausages, 1 Momo, and a Khaja Set and planned to order a Thali Set at the end.
Twenty minutes after placing the order, the waitress came back and asked if we wanted our Chatpate "gilo" or "sukkha"; we chose "gilo." The Chatpate arrived ten minutes after that. It was average at best, given the long wait time.
We thought that since they had started serving our table, the sausages would arrive soon. However, the waiting game began again. By this time, the tables that were occupied when we first arrived had started leaving after finishing their meals.
It had been a bit more than an hour, and looking at the staff, who were working with no rush, I decided to ask what was going on with our order. I called one of the waitresses and asked about our order. She said sheâd go and check. She then yelled at one of the kitchen staff, saying, "Yo Chatpate wala haru ko order k bhayo?" Referring to customers by the food they ordered instead of using table numbers felt very unprofessional.
She came back with our handwritten docket and asked us what we had received so far from our order. It was clear there was no sign of them preparing the rest of it. I told her that if they hadnât started preparing the rest of the order, we would leave, to which she apologized and said they were too busy to look after our table.
Having worked in the hospitality sector myself, I know it wasnât busy, and the staff were not in a rush at all. No new tables arrived after us, so I couldnât see why our table was left unserved. Even the table next to us felt sorry for us.
Clearly, the management needs to improve service and staff coordination. The restaurant didnât have any music playing the entire time, which made the atmosphere dull and unwelcoming.
We ended up going to a different restaurant in Glenroy, which we normally visit, and the entire order was served...
